Prototype Of The Land Rover LR2 Seen
It is already known that Land rover is realigning its products. It has been said that there will be three families that all products will fit in to and they will be Leisure, Dual purpose or Luxury. The leisure section will have the Discovery models, the Dual Purpose will be the next generation Defender models and the Luxury cars will be the Range Rovers. This theory has now been backed up a bit now that the LR2 has been seen testing, although until a formal announcement is made, nothing can be taken for granted. This vehicle is the Freelander鈥檚 replacement and is known to Land Rover engineers as L550 and is essentially a baby Discovery. This is because the Freelander鈥檚 successor is going to be more like a Discovery or LR4 with regards to styling and orientation. There have been rumours that the L550 will be using the Evoque platform and will have five and seven seat options. It is expected that Jaguar Land Rover engines will be used in the LR2. At the moment though only the outside of the car can be seen in the spy shots that were taken. We will have to wait for official news as to what will be under the bonnet.
The aim was to arrive at a more serene ride. This has been achieved, in ways that every other carmaker is chasing. They said it shouldn't be done: A baby Range Rover that comes with a ragtop variant. This is the most controversial of all Rovers, and in some ways the most courageous. Nissan tried that once with the hideous Murano CrossCabriolet. But in the end it sacrifices all too many practicalities (starting with, but not limited to, cargo space) in favor of making a fashion statement. If you have a house on Nantucket, you would consider buying an Evoque and leaving it there. Otherwise, it's a decent all-season city car. Will the fourth Range Rover, due in showrooms in a month or so, hue to the same high standards set by the full size Range Rover? We'll see. It is expected to be the most high-tech of the four, available in three engines鈥攁 247-horsepower 2.0-liter inline-4, a 380-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, and a 180-hp 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four. From the outside, its design is impeccable, with a floating roof, unbroken waistline, and the distinctive rounded corners of the modern Range Rover. The expectations are high. After all, Range Rover makes the best SUV in the world.
Scotland has its own car society, and the accompanying chart below is available from the Scottish Government website. It show sales for the top 20 models. So what has taken place north of the border in the 21st century? French models seem to be the major, consistent losers. Renault gave up discounting too much and went more for profit instead, as they should. This gave US models the top rankings, with German marques benefiting too. Japanese models have had a mixed result, with Korean cars not figuring that highly. The colour coding of cars is based on which nation the brand is associated, rather than who owns it. Dark blue is the USA, Yellow Germany, aqua the rest of Europe, and pink for Asia. The list gives me the impression that Scots car buyers are generally conservative and don't change on a whim. Actually that sounds like me too! It's something different and I hope you like it. Oh, you will notice it is still listed under labels as 'Nation - UK'. For now at least.
