It offers a wider field of view than a traditional rearview mirror and better visibility in low light conditions. The model can also be equipped with ClearSight Ground View. It uses cameras to show a 鈥渧irtual 180-degree view beneath the vehicle.鈥?Land Rover says this will be helpful for drivers tackling rough terrain or high city curbs. Like the 2020 Range Rover Evoque, the Discovery Sport rides on Land Rover鈥檚 Premium Transverse Architecture which is essentially an updated version of the previous D8 platform. In the United States, the model will be offered with two different powertrains. Choices include a 246 hp four-cylinder petrol and a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain with 296 hp. The latter uses a belt-integrated starter generator to capture kinetic energy during deceleration. That power is stored in an battery located underneath the floor and can be used to give a performance boost during acceleration. UK customers will receive a host of engine options including four 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesels. The entry-level unit - which is available with and without a mild-hybrid system - produces 148 hp and 380 Nm of torque. Customers can also order mild-hybrid variants with outputs of 178 hp and 430 Nm as well as 237 hp and 500 Nm. On the petrol side, there鈥檚 a mild-hybrid 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Buyers can also opt for a more powerful mild-hybrid variant with 246 hp and 365 Nm of torque. As with most newer models, the 2020 Discovery Sport will be offered an assortment of driver assistance systems. They include Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking. The iconic Land Rover Defender returns to the U.S. 2020 as a reengineered and thoroughly modern 4脳4 utility with as much capability but more space, a lot more technology and more luxury than its predecessor 鈥?along with luxury prices. The Defender reincarnation was unveiled today at the International Motor Show Germany in Frankfurt, and the mid-size, four-door 110 version will go on sale in the U.S. The Defender, like the Wrangler, has been an important halo vehicle worldwide for its brand, and it will be back in the U.S. The boxy profile, horizontal lines and off-road-friendly short overhangs remain, though the overall look is softer and more aerodynamic, and the windshield is more raked. The back end is squared off, though, and the new Defender still has a side-opening rear door accommodating a full-size spare hanging on the back. The flat roof also again is pierced by horizontal Alpine windows to let in light. Throwback lights have been replaced by distinctive, high-tech headlights and taillights.
When we diagnose electrical problems in cars the most common finding is failed components. Light bulbs come first, followed by motors of various sorts, and then switches and finally sensors. We can see burnt out bulbs but other component failures are often invisible, and are diagnosed by test. A heater fan or fuel pump that does not operate when powered up may look perfectly fine, but it does not work. Switches and sensors are often the same in that they fail invisibly. Testing has become more complex in the past 20 years as cars have moved from simple 12 volt off-of switching to smaller wires carrying digital data of various sorts. Where we once tested circuits with simple test lights we often need logic analyzers to read and interpret complex data streams. Automobile wiring has always been vulnerable to corrosion, and digital circuits increase that vulnerability. In between, there鈥檚 just the strand of wire, and what can go wrong with that?
