There has been much talk of Jaguar Land Rover鈥檚 electrification plans recently, but only now are we able to give a verdict on one of its plug-in products. And what a way to start - with the PHEV version of its range-topping Range Rover. If ever there was a car that should suit electrification, it鈥檚 the Range Rover. The silent progress afforded by an electric motor should work well with the latest Model Year updates, which have been designed to boost luxury levels in the firm鈥檚 most opulent car. Said updates include a new Velar-inspired grille and bumper, as well as new Pixel-Laser lights, which can project up to 500m into the distance. At the rear, the exhausts have been integrated into the bumper, while new tail-lamps complete the look. Two new colours and new wheels designs are available for 2018 cars, as well a pair of styling packs. The Range Rover P400e uses a 13.1kWh battery, which offers 31 miles of full-electric range. In reality that鈥檚 likely to be closer to 25 miles, but either way, you can鈥檛 argue with the low CO2 emissions. Owners can top up using a rapid charger in under three hours.

Meawhile back at the hot springs we set up camp and used a tarp to block the wind between the 2 Rovers. Then we indulged oursleves in the springs. Man it was COLD that night with the wind blowing and buffeting my 88 througout the night, I slept with the catflap down to shelter some from the wind. It was 26 inside Ignotus in the morning I am sure the windchill brought it down to the teens or single digits though. We got ready to go and Ignotus wouldn't start? I've been having an issue with the glowplugs so I thought it was them. We need to eat so we piled into Da Snork and went to Denny's curtesy of Chris. Then back to the camp. We farted around for quite a while trying to get it to go, even melting 2 of the glowplugs with the jumper cables. I did have spares to replace them with! Then it was time to go meet the guy in town so Linus and Chris left me to work out what I could with Ignotus. I checked for grounds, opened the dash and checked the wiring and switch,I checked for fuel at the injectors, I moved the glowplugs around. Nothing was making it start but the plugs appeared to be working. I couldn't raise Linus on the CB so I headed into town and came across him just at the edge. 3.64/gal diesel) as they went shopping. We met again at the military surplus store. After a look around we headed out of town to do Titus Canyon.

The leather steering wheel feels good to the touch and the wood tone shifter, console and accents are a stylish touch. The sunroof lets you soak up some rays or gaze at the stars while parked and good tires on alloy wheels with fancy rims roll you where you want to go.

The 80-series is, for those who don鈥檛 know, considered by most Land Cruiser lovers to be made in, 鈥淭oyota鈥檚 finest hour鈥? They are truly brilliant machines - but like the good student - a bit dull. For the same price as one of these, I can buy a tired Defender. Now a tired Defender might mean me spending my Saturdays under it, keeping it running. I did this throughout the 鈥?0s, with my Range Rover, and the thought if it now doesn鈥檛 excite me one bit. The other part is, what I am doing in the UK. Followers of my work, most of them here anyway, would love me to return to the fold. So now, the big question is, is The Thing that the Defender possesses, enough for me to truly enjoy the vehicle as once I did, having now tasted the other, albeit less interesting, alternative? Check out my latest video on YouTube.

Finished adjusting the wing brackets, and now the wings are basically ready to be sanded, primed and painted. The front end is definitely looking like a Land Rover! It would be nice if the hood was fully painted, as that could be tried on as well. Was hoping to prime the outer wings, as it's a three day weekend (Thanksgiving, here in Canada), plus it's relatively warm, but NAPA is shut until Tuesday and so I can't buy any primer for ABS plastic until then. The hood upper surfaces will probably be painted instead. Below, the front end (note completed upper doors, too). Hood hinges are just in place so I know where they are. The inner wings have been straightened as much as possible, but, like the rest of the Land Rover, will have their little souvenir wrinkles and dents here and there. Nothing too noticeable, however. At least they fit properly now. Hood frame has been through the primer stage and has now been painted a high-temp black. The forward cross-member of the frame plus the fastening bracket were painted in Pastel Green, in a sort of overspray method, and so will have to wait until at least Monday to try and copy that. Then the hood will be turned over and painted Pastel Green. The surface has already been sanded and prepped.
