I am then able to download these to my devices as needed for the cities that we visit using wifi or pre-load all of them prior to leaving the US. And while the looks are the better for it, we'd take to parking in the far spots, especially with a dark finish that will prominently display blemishes. Interior styling is clean and simple, but not without flair. Just like the outside, tasteful is the order of the day, and the Forte's cabin isn't overly swooped-up. Dash-strokers will find that the Forte has its share of hard plastics, some may even find the sheen objectionable. But despite any nattering about materials quality, the Forte is right in there with its class contemporaries. I have a feeling performance is the main reason people like Mazda's, and not reliability and longevity. The CX-5 and Mazda6 are very similar vehicles. Mazda has announced plans to increase the fuel efficiency of its vehicles by 30 percent in the next seven years through the use of new engine technology and lighter materials. In 2009, Mazda will begin offering E85-compatible engines in North America and Northern Europe, and in 2011 all of the automaker's gasoline engines will utilize direct-injection fuel delivery. That same year, Mazda will introduce new diesel engines worldwide that boost fuel economy by 20-percent and in 2010, look for a new 16X rotary engine equipped with Direct Injection Spark Ignition that will increase both performance and fuel economy. Power for the LR2 comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged motor with direct injection. If that engine sounds familiar, you might be recognizing it as Ford's EcoBoost in the competing Escape. In fact, the motor is the last thing Land Rover's LR2 shares with Ford. This mates up to a six-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. The Haldex AWD system normally operates in front-wheel drive mode during regular conditions. But, thanks to the Land Rover Terrain Response system, the LR2 is capable of much more off-road. This system ties in with the engine, transmission, traction control, stability control, and center coupling. When one of the driving modes is selected, Terrain Response completely alters the vehicle's functions for optimum traction. There鈥檚 a general driving mode if you want to let the system work automatically, or grass/gravel/snow, mud and ruts, and sand modes when you already know what terrain you'll encounter. We weren鈥檛 fond of how the LR2 rode on pavement at all. The odd seating position made the car feel like an SUV, but the driving dynamics were more car-like, which threw us off. The LR2 did much better on the dirt course, as we might have expected it to. All-wheel drive operated transparently, and we didn't have any understeering trouble when we pushed the vehicle. We'll say the LR2's on-road manners are unique. They aren't for everyone (including us). When it comes to appearances, the LR2 looks like the rest of the Land Rover family's youngest sibling. There's nothing wrong with looking like a baby Range Rover, to be sure.

The residual value in a lease equation is the amount that the finance company believes the vehicle will be worth at the end of the lease if it is within the mile limit, mechanically cared for and without damages. The bigger mill is borrowed from the Optima, much as Toyota Corollas can be had with a Camry powertrain. The 2.4's 173 horsepower and 168 pound-feet of torque will slake the thirst of the power hungry, but it's overkill here, and the extra 400cc of displacement brings with it an increased appetite for fuel. Manual transmission Fortes are even worse, with the wonky throttle programming leading to the binary options of peel out or stall that take time to adjust to.

Rear seat passengers don't have to duck and squeeze to enter and exit, with ample space for four full-sized humans, and the trunk is surprisingly large, too. 600 power moonroof is worth the extra couple months of payments. Functionally, the Forte's ergonomics are above complaint. Big, clear knobs operate the climate system, and the radio has genuine knobs for tuning and volume; two areas that can be troublesome for manufacturers to get right. Bluetooth is standard on the Forte, and the steering wheel carries controls for operating the telephone, as well as the audio system and cruise control. During its time with us, the Forte never annoyed us with hidden buttons or incongruous menus - it's a pleasantly simple car to operate - and the gauges follow the same pattern, providing clear, legible information for the driver. Lesser Fortes get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out an energetic 156 horsepower, but SX models get an uprated 2.4-liter engine.

The first is the recent change in the favored design for the mission. Previously it was conceived as consisting of two launches at an interval of about four years. Up front, the car is listed to receive the new Bosch Generation 3 front facing camera, which will interface with a next-generation advanced driver assistance system that is listed as being the first 鈥渟ervice based control system鈥?from JLR. More details are likely to pop up as the vehicle gets closer to introduction, but the currently available information shows it to be a very technologically advanced vehicle that will also offer some classic overlanding features. It should give the Mercedes G-Class a run for its money.

So we headed over the pass to our original destination, not. Another windy road going up looking down on the valley we crossed into. We pulled over for some more pictures. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we got very lost ish, the kind of lost where we kept going through villages and it was on roads by now, so it was nice lost. We were also getting higher up and it started to rain. Well, time to find somewhere to stay we all agreed on the CB's, except Mike who was still having issues with his. So taking point as usual I kept looking for somewhere suitable to camp for the night. The problem with being in the mountains though is finding somewhere flat for 5 Land Rovers and 5 tents to stay.

Just as its price has expanded in both directions, the Mazda6 has grown in every measurable exterior and interior dimension except for rear headroom, which remains the same at 37 inches. The Mazda6 is now one of the largest mid-size sedans on the market, slotting just below the Honda Accord in size, which itself is now classified as a Large Car by the EPA. Those larger dimensions are wrapped in new curves that do things we haven't seen before in this segment. Dimensions: 2009 Mazda6 vs. Curb Weight 3,547 lbs. Take the front fenders, which jut far out from the hood that angles in as they travel down to the leading point of a shield-shaped grille. Those fenders should look familiar - the RX-8 has been wearing them for years. This means a massive use of lightweight materials such as HSS and aluminum. Of course, there is a completely new styling, as well new engine. This model has dropped a large V8 engine in favor of the far more advanced 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost unit. The amount of power that this engine produces is really impressive. A max output goes around 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque. There is also a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to models from above, this one is a little bit smaller. Still, it is a highly-capable machine. In times when the most of manufacturers are trying to cut fuel consumption, emissions and similar things, 2019 Dodge Durango will continue with two proven but thirsty V8 units. Of course, base models use a smaller 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar unit with 260 horses. Still, the real deal comes with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine, which delivers around 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is a hi-performance SRT version, which features a 6.4-liter with 475 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque. Unfortunately, this model is not in FCA鈥檚 future plans, so 2019 Dodge Durango could easily be the last model year. This is the smallest SUV on our list. It is actually a mid-size SUV, but its excellent use of space makes it roomier than most of others models in the class. In some aspects, it could even compete with some of the models above. The current generation is present since 2016. For the next year, there is one big novelty to come. It looks like we are about to see a hybrid version of this excellent crossover. Most likely, 2019 Honda Pilot will use the same hybrid powertrain as the legendary sedan Honda Accord. This practically means a 2.0-liter gasoline engine in a combination with a high-output electric motor. Exact numbers are yet to come, but we are sure that the new version will feature amazing fuel economy, just like it is the case with the iconic sedan, which can easily return more than 50 miles per gallon.

When I started my search recently I found multiple videos and forum posts about how unreliable LR's are and how reliable the Toyota's are; but, these same discussions and comments never mention the price disparity. I think either vehicle can be a good buy depending on the owner's mechanical aptitude and desire/time available to turn a wrench. Toyota without a doubt can last a long time, But so can most modern vehicles these days. I will say that Toyota owners will be the first to tell you that they will last forever and buy one now. Land Rover owners will tell you how unreliable they are but always manage to reference consumables and older land rovers. The Ford 5.4 Triton V8 has known to hit well over 400K with little maintenance. My 86' FJ60 had a cracked block at 248K and was rebuilt. Older 4Runners (late 90/early 2000) had head gasket issues. There are guys in the UK with v8 LR3's and over 300K on the clock and general maintenance on the engine. 200K and are going strong.

In 1991, the company embarked on a long-term project to develop vehicles powered by hydrogen technology, thereby participating in the search for sustainable transportation solutions, which still continues today. Mazda saw its hydrogen powertrain efforts progress positively forward in June 2008 when the Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid received the green light from the Japanese government to begin testing on public roads. The Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid (known as the Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid in Japan) offers 40 percent more power and an extended hydrogen driving range of 200 kilometers. It will be available for commercial lease in Japan during the 2008 fiscal year. And, Mazda is already progressing well with the development of an all-new Hydrogen RE vehicle with dynamic performance equivalent to a 3.0-liter gasoline engine and a hydrogen range of 400 kilometers. Mazda's future powertrain line-up has much to excite current and future Mazda customers. In 2009, an E85 fuel-compatible flex-fuel engine will be introduced into the Northern European and North American markets. From 2011 onwards, with new gasoline engines will incorporate next generation Direct Injection Spark Ignition and other systems to boost power by 15 to 20 percent and improve fuel economy by approximately 20 percent.

We鈥檇 have spent more time using the manumatic mode to shift manually if the sport mode wasn鈥檛 as good as it is. Perhaps if it came with steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, like the Z4 3.0si, the story might be different. The only other slight disappointment was with the engine speed-sensitive variable assist steering, which felt a touch slow just off-center. Aside from that, however, the steering feel was both meaty and communicative and the rest of the chassis proved faultless. Gone was the wretched ride quality of previous models, which reminded us of when our older siblings would take us sidewalk sledding, sans the snow. However, not lost on us was how BMW left the optional Sport Package off this particular tester, an equipment group that features more aggressive suspension tuning, sexy 18-inch wheels and low-profile tires. Turns out, despite leaving us with the less-attractive 17-inch wheels, the base setup is more than gifted in terms of maintaining body control under all handling circumstances, rendering the Sport Package all but unnecessary. Our advice: skip it and upgrade the wheels if you must. 50K wall. Still, forty-eight large for an X3? Shortly after our first X3 encounter in January, 2004, we wrote, 鈥渨e like the idea of the X3 better than the vehicle itself.鈥?After three years and a major update, this is still true. Because on paper (not counting the window sticker), the X3 3.0si is everything we鈥檝e ever wanted in a vehicle like this. And in terms of driving dynamics, it is every inch a BMW. In general, however, it remains expensive and still lacks the overall charisma that we loved in its big brother, the X5. And though it can still drive rings鈥攃orona rings, even鈥攁round some of its new competitors, it鈥檚 not so much better as to justify the price.

It鈥檚 finally here. After all the drama, all the teasers, all the leaked images and suspected spec sheets and armchair conjecture 鈥?the all-new 2020 Land Rover Defender has been revealed in all its glory. Visually speaking, it鈥檚 hard not to see it as a significant break from the Defenders of yore. Land Rover is making sure buyers will have plenty of ways to tweak and tune the looks of their Defenders to their personal tastes. Seven metallic paints and 12 different wheels are available, including sweet-looking 18-inch steelies sure to be the choice of true off-roaders and 22-inch alloy rims sure to be the darling of the Rodeo Drive set. The Defender will also offer a factory-spec protective wrap that gives the metallic paint a satin finish, one that also provides an added layer of protection from scuffs and scratches. If that鈥檚 not enough, the Defender offers a choice of four so-called Accessory Packs, which add features and details for different lifestyles.

The 4Runner Limited adds 20-inch wheels. Trail editions trade the body-colored exterior appointments 鈥?the mirrors and door handles, plus a few trim pieces elsewhere 鈥?for black ones; they also get darkened lights and a hood scoop. The dashboard carries similar themes to Toyota's Land Cruiser SUV, with a bulky gated shifter and plenty of silver trim. The optional third-row seat brings maximum seating capacity to seven. Both the second and third rows fold flat. There is also an optional sliding rear cargo deck 鈥?much like Dodge offers in its Nitro SUV 鈥?that can extend several inches beyond the rear bumper to form a makeshift picnic table or seat. It's rated to hold 440 pounds. Standard features on the SR5 include power windows and locks, a CD stereo with an MP3 jack, rear parking sensors, air conditioning and cruise control. Options include water-resistant cloth seats, a backup camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats and heated leather upholstery. A moonroof, a navigation system and the third-row seat are among other options. All stereo systems include a "Party Mode" button that routes more power to the liftgate speakers for tailgate parties. Full USB/iPod connectivity is optional.
