Land Rover vehicles are by far the most high performing vehicles in the off-road market and for good reason. They score best in their class on almost every review and are the perfect vehicle for both on and off-road driving. Land Rovers are faster and are more powerful than most 4x4's on the market and are faster than the Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes ML. Land Rover has a range of vehicles available from the classic looks and styling of the Mark 1 series to the hugely popular and fashionable Discovery. There is one thing, however, that all Land Rovers have in common - performance. All models are suitable for both on and off-road driving and all can hold their own when it comes to some serious challenges. Land Rovers are also statistically the safest vehicles on the road. A study by the UK department of Transport shows that the Land Rover is three times safer than the safest Volvo car and twice as safe as the Jeep Cherokee and Toyota Land Cruiser. This study was done by estimating the chance of death in a two car collision. If you want to feel safe when driving, whether it be in treacherous conditions or to reduce the risk of an accident, your best bet is to be in a Land Rover.

So how did Jaguar go for 2009? Well it finished X-Type production at the end of the year. Since sales to many markets had already ceased, it was only a matter of time. Total Jaguar sales for 2009 were by my estimate 52,500 (-20%). Not a bad effort considering the depressed economy and reasons already mentioned. Apparently Tata didn't want to buy Jaguar but it had to if it wanted Land Rover. I think they are glad they bought it now because as a well managed brand, it has much potential. It was poorly run by Ford but Tata has a more hands off approach and this will invigourate the people of Jaguar to greater things I'm sure. Jaguar just need to be more media savvy by being open with sales figures and that how they are achieving their goals as a marque.

It is great fun travelling within a country granted, but particularly out in AFRICA where roads may not be what you are used to actually very tiring as our first family guests confirmed whilst out here. Animals wildlife taste of the people who live and work here; black and white! Tribally clothed and modern. A trip to a local 鈥楢frican town through and through,鈥?is less than an hour away. Nanyuki, one of our local towns is less than two and has a more cosmopolitan outlook; the base for the British army making it Kenya with a mixed race influence, some of which is good and others not! A return trip might make you feel the need to explore more of the country, but on trip one? Get the poor chap home (6 hours drive alone from Nairobi!) and let him take it all in! That said we did meet the aforementioned briefly, part the way round his Kenyan travels and he seemed to be not out on his feet by then!

Europe's booming small SUV segment is giving a much-needed boost to beleaguered mass-market brands such as Renault, Peugeot and Opel. IHS analyst Tim Urquhart told Automotive News Europe. Renault sold 87,396 Capturs in the first half of this year, according to figures from JATO Dynamics. That exceeds the 2014 full-year European sales IHS predicted for the Captur last February. It also tops Renault's wildest expectations for the small SUV. The small SUV, which starts at 16,100 euros in France, is now Renault's No. 2-selling model in Europe after the Clio subcompact. It also accounted for the vast majority of Renault's 14 percent sales growth in Europe during the first half. To keep up with Captur demand, Renault had to increase output at its factory in Valladolid, Spain, the spokesman said, without giving specific figures. Rival Peugeot had to make a similar adjustment after its 2008 small SUV proved more popular than expected. In April, Peugeot announced it would increase capacity by 25 percent to 860 vehicles a day at its Mulhouse, France, factory to fulfill 120,000 orders for the car.

There is a great deal of space inside for both travelers and bags. The interior slash is of a high excellent and the whole cabin looks like it belongs in one of the far more expensive Discovery or Range. Gear levels are exceptional with even entry level brands benefiting from alloy wheels, air-conditioning and a CD player. Stability looks fixed to be rock strong in the new Land Rover Freelander parts, not just due to Discovery parts simply being used in the cabin, but owing to a new range of machines. Certainly, there will be a six-cylinder 3.2-litre unit with 230bhp and a more inexpensive 158bhp 2.2-litre diesel. An automatic gearbox is optional. The handling has also been superior as it is now more made up on road. The suspension smooths out bumps well, body roll is kept to a lowest and the car feels even more composed all round. Off road the Land Rover Freelander can nonetheless call its self a real 4x4 though. The engine stops when idle and resumes when the clutch system pedal is engaged with its instant stop/start system. This is completed with a heavy-duty starter motor unit operating as a generator to get better energy through what is labeled regenerative braking utilizing stored electrical power in capacitors to restart the engine without straining the starter battery.

I chose we spend a night away, self catering..Kenyan style which means you are provided with a cook and cleaner and you only have to actually provide the food and booze. We had been recommended a nice affordable cottage on a dam, about a hour north from us and we planned to take Martin and Tid with us, however Tiddy鈥檚 broken rib put paid to that. We set off on the Sat 6th March only to find the road between home and our destination was not much of a road anymore; much to Derek鈥檚 delight this was going to be a fun 24 hours after all! I had ideas of spending the night stuck, rather than in a comfortable cottage, but luckily I was wrong and two hours later we arrived safely on a 14, 000 acre farm, run by white Kenyans- the Dodd鈥檚 family. We will be back! During the month, from Monday to Friday I barely saw Derek as he spent most of his time in Nanyuki on the building project.

Power comes from a version of the new 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder that will be under the hood of the '07 Volvo S80. In the LR2, the engine is upgraded for off-road use to resist dust, mud, and water. Other improvements allow it to operate on a greater incline without losing oil pressure. The transversely mounted six-cylinder makes 230 horsepower (five less than in Volvo form) and 234 pound-feet of torque (two less than the Volvo version). That's a strong improvement over the Freelander's 174-horse total. The twin-cam 24-valve engine has variable valve timing as well as a multistage intake system. Hooked to a six-speed automatic, it will take the LR2 from standstill to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds, claims Land Rover, and on to a 124-mph top speed. The last Freelander we tested, in January 2002, turned 0-to-60 in 10.2 seconds. Underneath the unibody LR2 is a fully independent strut-type suspension with larger disc brakes at each corner. The LR2 we drove rode well, feeling more nimble and better controlled through turns than a Range Rover or LR3. Compared with a BMW X3's, the LR2's ride is softer and more comfortable. 39,000 for a loaded model. That should include a good deal more standard equipment than the old vehicle, in addition to all the 4-wheel drive goodies. Look for the LR2 in U.S.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, another 2014 off-road SUV, has quicker acceleration, nimbler on-road handling, superior fuel economy, and a fresher interior design. Also, the Evoque comes standard with a rearview camera, a feature you鈥檒l have to pay extra for in the LR2. On the other hand, the LR2 has better visibility and about 8 more cubic feet of cargo space. Both SUVs have poor reliability ratings, but if you have to pick one of the two, the Evoque is the better choice. Which Is Better: 2014 Land Rover LR2 or 2014 Acura RDX? As long as you don鈥檛 need an off-road-ready SUV, the Acura RDX (available with either front- or all-wheel drive) is far better than the LR2.

Land Rover products can function off road as well as anything on the planet. But off-road capability only goes so far if a vehicle (even those with the vaunted Land Rover name) doesn鈥檛 cut it on hard pavement. That鈥檚 where a majority of driving is done even for the avid off-road enthusiast. Handling, performance and gas mileage are key ingredients. And that鈥檚 where the entry-level Land Rover Discovery suffered for more than a decade through its last year of production in 2004. It was slow and it guzzled gas, not a good combination. The Freelander, another attempt to put the common man behind the wheel of a Land Rover beginning in 2002, wasn鈥檛 much of an improvement with an anemic 2.5-liter V-6 engine that carried poor EPA ratings. A year after the Discovery was discontinued in the U.S the short-lived Freelander met its demise. To fill some of the void, Land Rover introduced the more upscale, more expensive and more rewarding LR3 in 2004 as a 2005 model with a full complement of off-road equipment.

The only good thing being he could hardly call me a wimp after their behaviour. My city trip was actually put back a day by lunchtime as the mechanics found a few things that needed addressing. Neither serious or to do with the accident at all, but nevertheless our landy was still in bits after lunch! It wasn鈥檛 helped by the fact that between us all we had tents in the camp site, but also two very typical farm bungalows.. Derek and I had that thank god! I haven鈥檛 come to Kenya to stay in a bungalow! We did however have a lovely evening meal on the veranda of one of them all together before retiring to our individual beds. Our tree house was above the main campsite and there was an overlander truck; complete with about 30 occupants of back packing/ budget type travellers. They were very well behaved for youngsters! I guess all the travelling was keeping them quiet. Having done this trip I know how they felt! Before our big days travelling to get into the Mara triangle the next day, myself and the 鈥榣ady guests鈥?all trooped across Embu farm to visit Kenana Knitters, based there. As I understand it; the business had over 200 people involved and as the name suggests makes hand knitted items for export.

Though the genes of the highly successful original Freelander are still clearly recognisable, the new model looks more premium and more grown-up, without losing its sense of fun.鈥?Geoff Upex, design director. Upex and his team, including Earl Beckles (lead exterior designer) and Martin Buffery (lead interior designer), were also determined to develop a vehicle with clear family links to Land Rover鈥檚 successful new Discovery 3 and best-selling Range Rover Sport. A separate wide track wheel arch styling package is available for the RS-600- 5.0 and the 4.4 with a full Cosworth conversion, yet another British company Afzal Kahn supports. Body kits are also available for the RS-300 signature (10 piece), RS-600 (6 piece) and for older Range Rover models. Inside is the new "bespoke touch" with a whole new personalised leather treatment complete with an entire tailor-made interior. Furthermore, an interior to suit the customer's own specifications is also available. Our elegant and sculpted alloy wheel designs are evolved through skilled artistic innovation and state-of-the art manufacturing and materials technology. A. It is notable that the LR3 was dubbed the Discovery until 2005 when a total redesign was implemented. The 2009 models retain their classic Land Rover look. The boxy and stout stance, the elevated rear roof line and the clamshell-like hood all make the LR3 stand out in the crowd - or in a parking lot filled with more commonly-styled vehicles. Also retained is the vastly-spacious cabin. The 2009 LR3 continues the Land Rover tradition of roomy and versatile interior space that is loaded with an impressive list of standard features. Although some of the competition offer a bit more on the luxury side, they are completely unable to compare in the rugged and able department. The genuine wood trim is crafted from walnut. Almond-colored leather graces the interior along with nutmeg carpeting and very high-quality accenting materials. Most critics agree that the 4.4L 300hp 315 lb-ft V8/6-speed drive train combo produce more than sufficient power.

A clutch assembly will be around 拢180, a starter motor around 拢200 and a radiator around 拢330, Brake pads will be around the 拢45 mark. A replacement headlamp (offside) is close to 拢30 and an alternator should be close to 拢260. This is the are where the Series II really differentiates itself from the original Disco. Active Cornering Enhancement was standard on the XS and SE models and an option on the others and it genuinely transforms the Discovery from a wallowing barge that at times felt positively life-threatening into a reasonably tidy handler. Whilst it won鈥檛 be about to show a Subaru Impreza a clean set of exhaust pipes a Series II Discovery fitted with ACE at least removes the need for passenger sick bags during spirited driving. Though cars like the BMW X5 have subsequently moved the 4x4 handling genre forward another few steps, at the time of its launch the Discovery wasn鈥檛 too far shy of the large 4x4 class leader, the Mercedes M-class.

Since November we have spent a lot more time together, both in the business and out (two days of each!) I think it's paying off. I have calmer husband again and he more support for the necessary but mundane things that need doing in any business. When we are together, away from the business for two further days, we can allocate some time to looking from the outside in-. A system we have found very important with Both Equus Uk and our town business in Kenya. It remains to be seen if he indoors agrees of course but i feel for now at least our new time management routine is working. Dec is obviously to be a busy time for us in our new line of business as turnover just kept surprising us! It turned out to be another record month, superseding all other records. Al l depts. made records of their own and all the staff was very pleased with themselves. Derek was hoarse with telling folk about our business, who had not found us or even heard of us yet; so many of them!

It doesn't seem to be widely known, but, China appears to be planning to send a lander to Mars in 2016. As with most Chinese space projects, hard facts are scarce. A presentation gives some sketchy details of the mission. From this report we are able to glean the general outline of the mission and the fact that China actually has plans for a Mars exploration program. Figure 1. Chinese orbiter and lander aeroshell. The Entry, Descent and Landing (EDL) sequence is shown in Figure 3. Not much detail is revealed, but in brief, it seems to be a typical EDL sequence followed by most Mars landers. They are of a better design. The air suspension on 1993-1995 Classics is very unreliable and costly to fix. Kits to convert to coil springs are readily available and easy to fit. Allow a day for the job. 2,000 鈥?making the conversion kit very attractive. Oil all the door hinges, especially the external door hinges on 1987-1989 models. If you don鈥檛 keep them oiled you鈥檒l be paying to fix doors that don鈥檛 open one day.

A partnership with Apple will mean the potential to sell the BMW i3 Apple variant at the Apple Store, something which could disrupt their sales model in the same way Tesla has done with the traditional way of selling cars. And this could be the icing on the cake for both Apple and BMW, another way to reach the mass consumer market. BMW knows that in order for the i-brand itself to survive beyond the i8 (it has trademarked i0-i9 already) it needs to think differently and it needs a boost with the consumer market. Although there have been changes in the boardroom, Krueger has not ruled out reigniting the talks of the previous year. 鈥淟et me answer in general terms. There is something which makes BMW Group and Apple very similar. Both are companies with strong brands,鈥?he said in an interview. BMW have said that by 2025 all of its cars will be offered as a hybrid. But in 2019 BMW will offer one car in particular that will be fully electric. And that will be thanks to Apple.

Life started as dramatic in March as February ended! I started the first of the month by turning the land rover- over, driving our four men to their week鈥檚 work in town on the shopping complex. Driving in Kenya is quite a challenge and obviously one I have not yet mastered! Luckily we were all only slightly bruised and they were all a little shocked at their ordeal; but hey they don鈥檛 make men like they used to! I was not going fast, but I was cruising in fourth on a hard core road that had just had a downpour on it. I hit a bit not dissimilar to an ice rink and lost control, the vehicle making a 180 degree turn as it went into a minor ditch and tipped over. I knew as it happened, what I had done wrong as it wasn鈥檛 鈥?lightening type鈥?accident, and I had time to consider my mistake. A few seconds later it dawned on him it was his vehicle! Derek is not known as the most sympathetic after accidents- and this time was no exception.

After finishing up at my part-time job last night around midnight, I walked to the corner of 64th Street and Park Avenue to catch a cab (about 陆 block away). This is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the nation - I know of at least one BILLIONAIRE who lives a block away. True, the turning circle is vast, and some might prefer lighter steering effort at parking speeds. The brakes combine strong initial bite with plenty of stamina and an easy-to-modulate pedal. It's only on the last few yards before standstill that a heavier-than-expected effort is required to squash that ambitious kinetic energy. The supercharged V-8 runs smoothly and quietly unless you really push it, but its thirst is enormous and those 510 horses take a little longer than they should to pool their energy and beam the vehicle toward the horizon. With the throttle fully depressed, the SC roars from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, according to its maker. Forward thrust expires at a comparatively tame 140 mph. The maximum torque of 461 lb-ft provides an addictive measure of mid- to top-end grunt, making passing maneuvers exceptionally easy. This is sports car swiftness dressed in a traditional SUV silhouette. How can such a sumptuously equipped and amazingly well-built status symbol be so strangely soulless to drive? The Bentley goes really well, handles OK, and is not even excessively thirsty.
