Motor Trend has named the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S as its Best Driver's Car for 2013. The Best Driver's Car honor is decided after a yearly competition among the top new or improved performance cars available in the U.S. This is the second consecutive year that a 911 variant has won the award. Some radios will require you to remove four small Allen screws (with a 2mm or 5/64 Allen Key) before you can insert the removal keys. I believe these are simply a security measure. Now, push the keys outwards slightly, away from the radio, this will push the securing spring clips inwards. Now, pull on the removal keys to remove the radio. Some radios are a little bit stubborn, but a little persistence should pay off. Some factory-fitted radios are held in place by securing the screws located at the sides of the radio. Once you have removed the radio from its sleeve, disconnect the aerial and factory wiring harness connectors. Ask for the service department and ask to speak to a technician as they are generally happy to advise. On the other hand, you could always consult a Haynes manual.

The heavy camouflage prevents us from getting a good glimpse of the vehicle鈥檚 extra features, but it鈥檚 safe to assume that exterior updates for the Velar will be similar to other SVR models. Up front, Land Rover will redesign the bumper, adding larger intakes on each side and a revised lower section with a large splitter. The headlamps will carry over unchanged, but the grille should receive a new mesh. Jaguar Land Rover today further enhanced its Middle East test programme by opening a new engineering test centre in Dubai, UAE, to conduct extreme hot weather vehicle research, development and testing. With temperatures in the desert typically reaching 48 to 50 degrees Celsius in the summer months, the new 11,120 sq. ft. One of the first things I learned was that cost is one of the most important design goals of every car engineer. If a dollar could be saved by leaving a hidden metal part unpainted, Land Rover was very likely to do it. Other carmakers - like Rolls-Royce - had bigger budgets and made fewer of those compromises. Land Rover is launching its first-ever hybrid models - the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid - which will deliver outstanding fuel economy, significantly lower CO2 emissions and retain Land Rover鈥檚 renowned capability and performance. Order books in the UK will open from September 10 with first deliveries in early 2014, the two all-aluminium models are based on Land Rover鈥檚 Premium Lightweight Architecture and share an identical powertrain. They are the world鈥檚 first premium diesel SUV hybrids. 鈥淲e are excited to introduce the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Hybrids, the world鈥檚 first hybrid SUVs with legendary Land Rover capability. The truck is set up on a body lift and the rear of the frame lopped off. The edges are smoothed and any corrosion extending forward is repaired. Then the new frame rail ends are installed. You can see how they slide over the original rails, and the six holes on each side give space for bolting and welding. The gold finish on the frame is a weldable corrosion resistant primer, so the repaired frame won鈥檛 be so quick to go the way of the original. The rear crossmember will take some fabrication as you see, but it鈥檚 not a big deal. These frames also rust and break alongside the right catalyst, and we repair that with plate to strengthen the sides and bottom of the frame for about two feet in that area. Once the frame is repaired we still recommend treatment with Waxoyl. The Waxoyl may not hold on badly rusted and flaking areas but it will significantly slow the progress of corrosion most everywhere else. It's not optimal - applying on rusty frame - but it's the best post-repair preservative I know. We are very pleased to see these new frame rail repair pieces. I predict they will save quite a few truck from the scrap yard! Indeed, when the master cylinder was pulled back from the booster the technician could see where fluid was leaking and he ordered a new cylinder. The question is, why did this happen two weeks after the first repair? The answer was clear with a little bit of thought. When everything is normal the guts of the master cylinder don鈥檛 move more than a few thousandths of an inch to actuate the brakes. When the system gets bled following repair it moves through a much bigger range, half an inch or more. If the seldom-used reaches of the master cylinder have become roughened by corrosion the act of bleeding the brakes may lead to the internal seals failing. That鈥檚 what happened in Bob鈥檚 case.

Jaguar Land Rover has loaned a specially modified Discovery Sport to Rapid Response NGO for disaster-related relief work. With this donation, the company is celebrating the completion of its 10 successful years in India. Commenting on the half year performance Phil Popham, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said 鈥淚t is very encouraging to see both our Jaguar and Land Rover brands delivering strong sales performances across our 178 markets. New model introductions have been incredibly well received with the all-new Range Rover retailing more than 22,000 units since launch. 鈥淭he F-TYPE which received a rapturous reception from media during its global launch last month is off to an excellent start with new customers and will go on sale in China this month鈥? China has seen Jaguar sales surge towards 8,000 units, surpassing the 2012 full year total in the first half of the year. 1,000 F-TYPE sports cars sold in June alone. XF and XF Sportbrake sales increasing on the appeal of new powertrains and All Wheel Drive. Growth continues across Asia Pacific and Overseas, with exceptional sales performance in markets like Brazil, Russia, South Africa and India. Approaching 61,000 Range Rover Evoque vehicles sold globally this year. In June, Land Rover sold 27,165 vehicles up 2% despite the run out of Range Rover Sport.

Torque, meanwhile, is intelligently distributed between the front axle and each of the rear wheels. The new Discovery Sport can also switch between AWD and 2WD mode in under 400 milliseconds, for greater efficiency. This, combined with a MacPherson front suspension, makes for a comfortable driving experience. We started our drive on small and twisty town streets. The 9-speed can get a little agitated when searching for the right gear, but once through the travails of city traffic, the Discovery Sport starts to relax and show off its full potential out on the open road. Hitting the highway means time to step on the gas. The car does 0-60mph in about seven seconds, and while it doesn鈥檛 necessarily feel like an aggressive speed demon, it has plenty of power and hummed along smoothly in a manner worthy of a Sade playlist. Montserrat mountain isn鈥檛 short on demanding curves, but the Discovery Sport proved sure-footed, with communication of grip and balance coming through strong through the steering. Speaking of which, an accurate wheel with little play proved welcome when there鈥檚 a wall of rock on one side, oncoming cars, and then a precipitous cliff on the other.

Maybe it鈥檚 just a British thing, but the new Land Rovers and Range Rovers are not reliable at all. Is There Real Proof? Well, I wouldn鈥檛 just tell you that the new Range Rovers and Land Rovers are unreliable without backing it up. From 2007 to 2016 the Range Rover鈥檚 best score from JD Power Associates regarding reliability was a 3/5, or 6/10. Out of those 9 years of ratings, 8 of them were 2.5/5 or less than that. So basically for 8 out of the last 9 years, it has scored below average in terms of reliability. Further investigation will show that the Land Rover brand has around 179 problems per 100 vehicles. The only companies worse than that are Dodge and Mini. Funny enough its off-road competitor Jeep is basically just as bad at 178 problems per 100 vehicles. Are They Worth It? Whether or not they are worth it is a very difficult question to answer. This is because everybody views the Land Rover brand differently. In my opinion, the older Land Rovers are absolutely worth it. They are nicer than most modern cars, but are still solid-axle and can take a beating off-road. I loved my Discovery II before the engine exploded, it was hands down the nicest vehicle I鈥檝e ever owned. Newer Land Rover and Range Rovers aren鈥檛 worth it. You might get a ton of cool luxury features, but those features aren鈥檛 worth the cost of maintenance and repairs of a newer Land Rover.

Despite the moaning of purists, Porsche has developed a pair of SUVs which are among the most popular sporty versions of the niche. Most importantly, the popularity of the German automaker鈥檚 utility vehicles means more funds to develop the company鈥檚 high performance fleet. More money means more toys. The media visit to the Art of the Performance Tour was unique in that we visited the event alongside actual consumer guests, rather than being sent off on our own. It was great fun seeing somebody other than the usual, jaded auto journalist types at an event, because there was actual excitement in the eyes of many participants! The plant will be flexible and can change the production mix based on consumer demand.

The dash features a control that allows you to select your road condition, and the vehicle will automatically adjust many of it鈥檚 systems for optimum performance in the given terrain.

Below, a layered rump with integrated exhaust ports and a painted silver diffuser (similar to the Evoque鈥檚 rear fascia) contrasts the Velar鈥檚 otherwise sleek design.

Modern SUVs offer everything all other vehicles can do. That is why this category is a killer for most other segments. Two-door variants are not functional, and practicality stands way above the luxury and showing off. There is no clue about the drivetrain lineup for the 2020 Land Rover Defender. Still, experts made few theories which units could suit this model the best. It seems like a 2.0-liter JLR engine is a favorite. However, the downside of this one is a lack of power. Both diesel and petrol drivetrains can鈥檛 generate as much energy as all Defender鈥檚 lovers would like to see. The most interesting speculation is about the hybrid drivetrain. The company is not denying, so we have a reason to suspect in it. Some other vehicles in the family can offer the PHEV systems and the range of 30 miles. It will be perfect for the new Defender.

Land Rover announces 2014 range of cars. The 2014 model year continues the most dynamic product development and introduction period in the brand's history. The Range Rover Evoque debuts one of the first nine-speed automatic transmissions in a passenger vehicle. The sporty Range Rover Evoque, the smallest and lightest Range Rover model, has become its worldwide best seller, with more than 170,000 sold in its' first 18 months. The Land Rover LR4 also replaces the 5-liter V8 with the 340hp supercharged V6, teamed to an 8-speed automatic. Land Rover has re-powered its luxurious all-purpose, all-terrain LR4 model for 2014 and also revised the model's exterior styling. A new 340hp 3-liter supercharged V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission replace the previous 5-liter V8 and six-speed automatic, yielding comparable performance with better fuel economy. An Intelligent Stop-Start system also helps reduce fuel consumption in certain driving situations. Available with three-row seating for seven adults, the 2014 Land Rover LR4 features a refreshed front end with a two-bar grille and redesigned bumper, headlamps, and fog lights.
