Converting A Series Land Rover To A V8

They are not as robust as the american V8s, parts are a lot more expensive in the States, they are spec'ed for premium grade petrol and do not get good fuel mileage. In several states fitting that new of an engine into a Series Land Rover would require the Series Land Rover to meet all emissions regulations in effect for the year the engine was built. For many people thinking about a V8, the choice boils down to Ford and Chevy. Each has its advantages and each has its disadvantages. The small block V8 Ford is a couple inches longer than the small block Chevy . The extra length is clearance for a front distributor mount. However the small block Ford is a little narrower than it's Chevy counterpart and is an easier fit if the stock Rover steering box is retained. The GM small block V8 will have it's distributor almost against the bulkhead in an area that is difficult to access when the bonnet is attached to the car. The Ford has it's distributor up front and provides very easy access but makes the distributor more susceptible to fan splashed water when wading.

This is easily sourced in a small block Chevy because the oil pump is at the rear. The small block Ford has it's distributor driven oil pump at the front so most Ford oil pans have the deep part at the front. You would need to source an oil pan from a early small block Bronco or Ford 4X4 pickup. This pan has the deep part at the rear. The Rover's differential housing can strike this pan on extreme articulation (I learned this on the trail). If you can, modify the front right corner of the pan to effectively remove a 2 inch square cube from the front right corner of the pan. Chevy has the advantage there. The alternator is mounted high on a GM small block engine. Ford tends to mount them low like the LR four cylinder engine. There may be a frame clearance issue depending upon which stock mount came with the Ford engine. However, alternator on a small block Ford can be moved to a higher location to protect it from submersion while deep wading and have more space at the frame rails.

Indeed, for who want to look cool, a style that carried the Optima will be difficult to accept. It is nothing. The design is very modern and dynamic. Look at the line pull headlights with grille that looks harmonious. Application chrome make it look more luxurious. The same style continues to bumper with a touch of DRL and fog. Not a lot of thick grooves, but the sketch is presented gives the impression challenging. Aroma stylish also detected in peleknya design compelling. Not many indentations in the side, but the presence of a panoramic roof will steal the show. To the rear, solid stern look more sexy slim design with LED lights and a sporty bumper. Go inside, pinned in a slick modern look without forgetting the luxury element. Artificial quality is quite good, with a design focus on the driver's dashboard. Unfortunately, the red background on the instrument panel makes it appear less authoritative.

Born 1966, and this was such a trip reading through the list. I was grade school / middle school thru the 70's. I still remember going to a dance wearing bell-bottoms and those choker necklaces that had the ceramic painted figures like butterflies. What a funny old time. Born 1951 - hit right on this era as a young man. One of the best decades for me. Great lens - thanks for the memories. The 70s were a great decade for art, movies, music, and literature. We probably will never see its equal. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I grew up in the 70's and this lens is right on and groovy man! D I've been thinking about this time in my life a bunch this week. AV and 'Thank You'! I'm a 1970 baby myself! Loved the lens. The 70's were my college years - Peace, Love and Rock and Roll! Now I'm going to get my best of the 70's cd out and chill.

The 2 vertical studs bolt to a flat plate that also attaches to the top of the radiator bulkhead's shroud. I made 2 mistakes with the specification. The overflow tube is pointed directly to the inner wing with very little space for a hose. I should have pointed it the same direction as the top hose. The second is the bottom hose inlet. The frame is not horizontal where it sits. A hose would fit better if it were parallel to the frame and maybe pointed inwards a little. Trial fit of the radiator. You can see the power steering box at the picture right bottom and the bonnet prop mounting bracket to the picture left. There s enough space to get the headlamp, electric fan, horn & turn signal though below the bonnet mounting bracket. With the bottom mount in place the top of the radiator is even with the top of the radiator bulkhead shroud.

The shape of the Range Rover began to look dated by the mid 1990's with a design that had remained virtually unchanged from 1970. A change was needed to compete with the next generation of luxury cars and growing competition. The engine department currently has the 4.0 & 4.6 specifications in house, these are reliable units but still thirsty for fuel consumption. The 0-60 performance is impressive at 9 seconds for a vehicle in excess of 2 tonnes. The standard Land Rover ladder chassis is still utilised however it is much wider and includes crash cans to absorb frontal impact and these also work with sensors to operate the airbag systems. The six cylinder BMW diesel differs from the saloon car unit with a modified sump to allow for off-road use and the extreme angles encountered. The diesel unit will obviously give improved fuel consumption but at a cost of restricted performance in comparison to the V8.

Other markets get a 2-liter four-cylinder with horsepower in the 150s, but our market wil most likely be gifted with the 189-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder. 6-speed automatic and manual transmissions will be offered, keeping in touch with Mazda's fun-to-drive image. Fun-to-drive doesn't mean unrefined, and Mazda has also focused on reducing harsh vibrations and overall noise. An engine start-stop system and a braking-energy recuperation system further enhance fuel economy. There won't be a high-horsepower Mazda 6, but there is a Toyota-licensed hybrid 6 coming. The interior design isn't as exciting as the exterior or engineering. The dashboard strongly resembles the CX-5's, meaning it isn't as stylish as it is functional. The interior as a whole sends off a premium aura, but that poorly-intergrated stereo/navigation system is just a drag. The new 6 shouldn't stray far in terms of interior volume compared to the roomy outgoing U.S. In Russia, where the new Mazda 6 is debuting, it can be optioned up with adaptive cruise control, rear vehicle observation system, and similar safety gimmicks.

The Nissan Leaf, this one many go across the North Sea to Norway. For many years now the UK have been a net importer of cars. Despite recent gains in local production, it cannot get near an even import/export balance by volume. If it was based on value, it would look much better, but the chart below is for numbers of cars. How I work it out is find out how many cars were made by manufacturer, their total UK sales and the net difference is 'UK sales subtracted from 'Made'. If you take the -33.3(%) as the 'Net importer' figure off UK sales, you come up with the total UK made number. It is just a way of showing the difference. Now I have run this back to 1990 and this is how it has panned out. The 1990 net importer figure was -35.5%, so nothing much has changed over these decades. MG Rover was top of the list then and is now gone. Nissan was importing more than it made and Peugeot was nearly a neutral figure. The best figure from 1990 in 1992, with a-18.9% when Ford and Vauxhall were still making many cars in the UK. The worst year was 2009 with 49.9% with the big crash in Europe. In 2012, it was 28.3% so the UK went backwards in 2013. Booming domestic car sales is the reason for that, with the UK exporting most vehicles it makes. Nissan lead the numbers as they have since 1998. Land Rover closed the gap, while Mini fell back a bit. If Ford were still making cars and MGR had not gone to BMW, they would still be there but they're not and for any foreseeable time the UK will be a net importer of cars.

The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque will be one of the first vehicles on the market to feature a nine-speed automatic transmission. An Evoque demonstration vehicle with the new transmission will be on display at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show. Land Rover told Edmunds on Tuesday the 2014 Evoque with the new ZF transmission will go on sale in the fall. But it is still uncertain just how much the new technology will add to the price of the Evoque. Wayne Kung, a Land Rover spokesman, in response to an e-mailed query. The nine-speed automatic transmission is expected to be one of the most fuel-efficient transmissions on the market. The technology is likely to boost the appeal of the Evoque, which is already the most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever produced. The 2013 Evoque is equipped with a 240-horsepower turbocharged direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Land Rover in a statement. The nine-speed automatic transmission features a "skip-shift function" for much quicker downshifting under rapid deceleration or from greater drive input demands, the automaker said. The new transmission is similar in size to the six-speed transmission and is slightly lighter. The EPA says the 2013 Evoque returns 20 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. Land Rover did not offer fuel economy estimates on the 2014 Evoque with the nine-speed automatic transmission. The wraps come off an Evoque demonstration vehicle in Geneva at a time when gas prices are rising in the U.S. The AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report on Wednesday pegged the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the U.S.
