Update Prior to Sale: Steering Alignment

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Range Rover (LM)

VIN: CA354167 - CA363665 (specific vehicles only)

Model Year: 2012

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

A potential concern has been identified on a limited number of vehicles with the steering wheel which may be greater than three (3) degrees out of alignment.

Action:

Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Vehicles must not be released until a Four-Wheel Alignment check and, if necessary, adjustment of the front and rear toe settings has been performed. Refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below.

For cars in Retailer inventory, this Update Prior to Sale should be performed in conjunction with the vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).
For those vehicles already in the hands of customers, this should be done at the next available opportunity.

Always check DDW to verify that the vehicle is affected by this Update Prior to Sale notice or any other campaign prior to undertaking any repair as some vehicles may have been repaired in port. DDW reflects only those vehicles affected and un-repaired.

NOTE:

Warranty claims should be submitted quoting the Program Code 'Q162' together with the relevant Option Code; this will result in payment of the stated time. As Option Codes are used, there is no requirement to enter SRO information; these are displayed for information only. The option that allows for drive in I drive out may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken. This Update Prior to Sale Notice is valid fora limited time only and will expire on 16 March 2012. All Warranty claims up to

this date must be submitted for payment within 30 days of completion of the repair.

CHECK FOUR-WHEEL ALIGNMENT; ADJUST FRONT AND REAR TOE SETTINGS IF NECESSARY

1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 204-00: Four-Wheel Alignment, to check and, if necessary, adjust the front and rear toe settings.
