Clearing Transfer Gearbox Code
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
New Range Rover (LM) From 3A136630
SITUATION:
NEW TRANSFER GEARBOX ECU PROMPTS CODE
When installing a new ECU into a vehicle build after 3A136630, fault code "1232 - Motor Direction Error" may be stored. This is the result of a software error that prompts the code to be stored.
RESOLUTION:
UTILIZE TESTBOOK/T4 TO CLEAR THE CODE
If fault code 21232 "Motor Direction Error" is stored when installing a new transfer gearbox ECU, clear the code. Select "Fault Code Diagnostics" while TestBook/T4 is connected and follow the on-screen instructions to clear the fault code.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
INSTALL ECU AND CORRECT FAULT CODE
- Refer to RAVE section 41.30.01 and follow the procedure for replacement of the ECU, including TestBook/T4 connection. (Figure 1
- When physical installation is completed and all routine TestBook steps are finalized, select "Fault Code Diagnostics" while TestBook/T4 is still connected.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to clear fault code 21232.
