Where Nissan failed with the Murano CrossCabriolet, might Land Rover succeed with a convertible version of its Range Rover Evoque? We鈥檒l get the chance to find out the answer to that very question in the coming years as the British automaker is launching a new Range Rover Evoque Convertible. The vehicle has been spied testing for the past several months, and now it鈥檚 been revealed ahead of its world debut at the upcoming 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. High-riding convertibles are still somewhat of an oddity in the automotive landscape, yet it鈥檚 a segment Land Rover sees potential in. There have been convertible Land Rovers before but this is the first time one has been launched by the automaker itself. Fortunately, Land Rover isn鈥檛 charging a huge premium for the drop-top option. 4k more than the price of a comparable Evoque three-door. Also helping the Evoque Convertible is styling that鈥檚 miles ahead of the ungainly Murano CrossCabriolet.
Jaguar Land Rover recently unveiled some details regarding its future development strategy and announced the arrival of three entirely new models in the years to come. Since their acquisition by the Indian Tata Group in 2008, Jaguar and Land Rover are very dynamic and have not hesitated to multiply the new models. And it seems that it is not ready to stop since the two brands have unveiled their strategy to come and announced the arrival of three new models unpublished by 2024, in addition to the renewals of existing ones. The first should be the brand New Land Rover Defender, which will arrive in 2020. It will finally replace the old model, which left the production lines two years ago. The second will land in 2021 and should be the Jaguar J-Pace, a large SUV that will be positioned above the F-Pace to compete with the Audi Q7, the new BMW X5, or even its cousin Range Rover. On the other hand, much more mystery surrounds the third unpublished model, which should come out between 2022 and 2024. Some rumors evoke a luxurious sedan badged Land Rover, which could take the name of Road Rover. This name has been recently filed by the British firm. Another option much more likely: it could be a derivative of the new Defender, Defender then becoming a family of models, like Range Rover and Discovery. Along with the arrival of these new models, Jaguar Land Rover would continue to streamline its ranges on a technical level by introducing two new platforms. The first, called Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA), is reserved for models whose engine is in a transverse position and will be introduced by the new Range Evoque, which could be presented at the end of this year.

One significant change is the introduction of an auxiliary water pump. The climate control system monitors cabin temperature and maintains fan speed at a level that will protect the battery's state of charge when the engine is shut down. In extreme hot or cold conditions, extended stops, or if an occupant selects a higher fan speed during a stop, the engine will re-start if necessary to preserve occupant comfort. Evaporator temperature, the factor that gives rise to screen misting, is also monitored and the enhanced climate control system will periodically cool the evaporator as necessary to mitigate misting during a stop-start. The system operates the windscreen defrost shutter and, if the evaporator is wet, the shutter will remain closed for a few seconds after an engine restart until the vapour is dissipated, again mitigating windscreen misting. Land Rover's comprehensive green technology roadmap, which will drive the company to increasingly lower emissions and more sustainable technologies in the coming years. This is a key part of the 拢700 million investment in sustainable technologies being made by Jaguar and Land Rover. Land Rover engineers are working on a series of advanced propulsion technologies and lightweight structures aimed at bringing CO2 emissions down to class-leading levels.
