Gina's Big Adventure..

Gina's Big Adventure..

In Africa, ten years ago, our trip moved from the soft pink dunes and flat seas of sand in the Sahara to what my guide called, "Black Africa," the plains and jungles of Benin and Togo. It was a frightening transition from open to dense land from laid-back nomad to wary villager. One night in a village in Benin, my travel group was invited to a ceremony where we were told a shaman could help us achieve our dreams. I don't remember all the details, but I do remember the heat, the sweltering heat, and the humidity, and the crazed drug-induced frenzy of the village shaman. I was brought before him after he made a frightening entrance into a dark hut. He was bugged-eye and spitting everywhere, sweat gushed out of him in multiple rivulets and he half-danced half-walked around the room talking to the unseen spirits in the hut. Finally, he stood in front me and looked down.

Synchronization of keys on these models is pretty easy. Put the key in the driver door. Turn it to lock while pressing the lock pushbutton. Hold for 5 seconds. Turn to unlock, press unlock and hold 5 seconds. At that point, the vehicle should lock and unlock via pushbutton. If you cannot synchronize any keys the switches in the door latch may be bad, and I suggest you attend to that right away as the car will be stranded is security sync is lost. This version of Range Rover was designed while BMW owned Rover, so the key programming is shared with the big Beemers . 2 Put one of the keys in the ignition and turn it to the first click and then back off within five seconds to put the car into initialization mode. From this point, you must continue key programming within 30 seconds or the system times out . 4 Press and hold unlock button for up to 15 seconds. While doing this, press the lock button three times within 10 seconds. 6 If you did this right the car will answer you by locking and then unlocking the vehicle. The pushbutton keys in Discovery II models can only be coded by a shop with the Autologic, T4, or IDS diagnostic systems. The pushbutton keys in these models can only be coded by a shop with the Autologic, T4, or IDS diagnostic systems. John's shop has supported Land Rover owners since 1987. They are experienced at all aspects of service, repair, overhaul and restoration.

Here's how I removed the running boards on my 2015 Land Rover LR4. These are a mandatory feature on the 2015 model. They are installed at the factory and the dealership is forbidden from removing them. I removed them so I could install my after-market rock sliders. They're relatively easy to remove. It's just time consuming and requires some awkward positioning since I don't have a lift. I found a video online showing the installation process, but that LR4 had a slightly different rocker panel trim. Locate and remove all 9 Torx bolts on the bottom of each running board that fasten it to the frame. Don't worry about needing to support the running board at this time. There are 7 more bolts to be removed and they easily hold it onto the car. Remove 2 screws that fasten the rear of the rocker panel trim to the car. Looking up at the bottom of the running boards, remove the 7 nuts that fasten the board exterior to its structure. Remove the running board surface. Close the doors and lift the running board.

It's been a long time coming and is one of the most eagerly anticipated cars in ages, but the covers have finally come off the all-new Land Rover Defender. Once again, the Land Rover team has produced a stunning car with huge desirability. I love its rugged, modern looks and some of the clever engineering that has gone into it. Do I want one? At this point, you鈥檙e probably waiting for a big 鈥榖ut鈥?to ride into town, and here it is: I鈥檓 not sure the world really needs a new Defender. More to the point, I鈥檓 not sure that Jaguar Land Rover does. Let me explain. The market for really utilitarian SUVs like the old model is tiny. There are plenty of romantics (not least in JLR) who wanted to see the Defender reborn, but are they going to spend more than 拢45,000 on one? And if you are one of the few who really need serious off-road ability, does Land Rover (or others) not already offer something that fits the bill? The market for mainstream SUVs is huge, though, so that鈥檚 where Defender is being pitched. And here鈥檚 the rub: many of its main rivals are already in Land Rover and Jaguar showrooms. Between the Defender price points of 拢45,000 and 拢79,000, Jaguar Land Rover already has eight (yes eight) other SUVs. Count 鈥檈m: Discovery, Discovery Sport, Evoque, Velar, Range Rover Sport plus Jaguar鈥檚 E-, F- and I-Pace. The Defender makes it nine. You鈥檒l be spoiled for choice. All that said, it will, of course, sell by the bucketload. But at what price for the other SUVs in JLR鈥檚 line-up? Do you agree with Steve that JLR does not need the new Defender?

The Land Rover Defender 8-seater to have the same wheelbase as the standard version. The Defender 8-seater will measure 5.1 meters in length. The Defender 8-seater will feature a 4X4 drive system as standard. Jaguar Land Rover had recently unveiled the new Defender at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Now, it is being learned that the company is readying an 8-seater 130 variant of the SUV, which will be available with both three-door 90 and five-door 110 models. Despite offering the 8-seat configuration, the Defender 130 will have similar wheelbase - of 3 over meters - as the standard 110 models. There will be no extension in the architecture instead the rear overhang of the SUV will be boosted to accommodate eight occupants. Land Rover Defender 130 8-seater variant will measure 5.1 meters in length, which is nearly 342mm longer than the 110 variant but still around 50mm shorter than its arch-rival BMW X7. The company hasn't made any official announcement yet but the internal documents reveal that it has been named as the 鈥榩remium explorer鈥?of the range. The introduction of this variant could benefit the company in Chinese and American markets where huge SUVs enjoy good popularity as compared to the European markets. The brand's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) unit could also start work on a high-performance model of the Defender 130 in order to challenge the mighty Mercedes-AMG G63.
