Oddly, the HSE trim has tri-zone climate control (five seats are standard here), but adds a gesture-controlled tailgate, power-adjustable steering column, Meridian 380-watt/10-speaker audio, satellite radio and road-sign recognition. Many items standard in the higher trims can be fitted as options in the lower models. Other extras include a head-up display, Wade Sensing, locking rear differential, rear-seat entertainment system, 360-degree camera system, cabin air ionization, and the Activity Key. The standard engine in the 2020 Discovery is a gasoline-fueled, supercharged, 3.0-liter V6 making an impressive 340 horsepower. A turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel is optional. It generates less horsepower than its supercharged sibling, but (as is the way with most turbocharged diesels) brings more torque to the party, along with superior fuel economy. One downside is that this engine鈥檚 towing talents are not as great as the gasoline engine鈥檚: 7,716 pounds compared with 8,200 pounds. Both engines have a fuel-saving stop/start feature (which can be disabled if a driver finds it irritating). And an 8-speed automatic is the sole transmission. Full-time all-wheel drive is standard throughout and includes a single-speed transfer case. A 2-speed transfer case is optional and highly recommended for those planning to go off-road, along with the air suspension and locking rear differential options. On the inside, the 2016 Grand Cherokee is incredibly comfortable and the ride is smooth. Its 254 horsepower turbocharged V6 diesel engine performs beautifully in everyday driving, and it gets its owners a combined 25 mpg.
The bell housing clearance indentation needs to be modified to allow centring of the V8 engine and space for the larger bellhousing. For my bulkhead, a vertical cut was made near the centre of the indentation. Next the welds that held the right side of the indentation to the rest of the bulkhead were carefully removed allowing the removal of the right half of the bulkhead indentation. A new cut in the bulkhead was made three inches to the right of the edge of the stock bulkhead indentation edge that carefully followed the factory cut. The edges were formed and the right half of the indentation panel was welded back into place along the new cut three inches to the right of where it was previously positioned. A three inch wide flat sheet of steel was welded into place to cover the new three inch gap between the right and left sides of the bell housing indentation.

But which Land Rover model is best? Though some are objectively better than others, some are better tailored to certain drivers. Here, we rank all of the recent Land Rover models from the 2018 model year from worst to best. The Discovery Sport has a solid interior but lacks the wow-factor of other Land Rovers. It鈥檚 modern and well-equipped, but the cabin isn鈥檛 a work of art like the top-end Range Rover. However, it does provide plenty of other features, including three USB ports, an 8-inch touch screen, and a 10-speaker audio system.
