2019 Land Rover LR2: New Car Review

The 2015 Land Rover LR2 SUV may hold value for those who cherish the Land Rover name, but it's easily outdone by other luxury brands, not to mention some lower-priced compacts including the Jeep Cherokee and Hyundai Santa Fe. Because it shares a platform with the new Evoque crossover, the LR2 is one of the few Land Rovers to employ unibody construction. This means it's built like a car, not a truck. Optimized for paved roads, the LR2 can nonetheless hold its own in the bushes if opportunity knocks. From a luxury standpoint, the LR2 competes with the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLK and Lexus RX -- all better-equipped and better-reviewed luxury models with more interior room and superior fuel economy ratings. However, the LR2's off-road abilities far exceed its luxury rivals. And while it's true that Land Rover has exercised many of the demons that plagued the old Freelander (the LR2's predecessor), the jury is still out on the LR2's long-term prospects.
The next task is to make a vacuum fitting for the brake servo. The new power assist brakes will take suction off the intake manifold and use it to decrease your effort when the brake pedal is applied. This shot shows the tapped hole for the vacuum fitting. This engine is not original to the truck, so if your truck doesn't have this later manifold you will need to tap a hole or find a later manifold. This is a 3/8 pipe thread tap. Here's the double male fitting that goes into the manifold. I found this in the plumbing section of the hardware store. You will also need a female sleeve to mate to the male fitting and a piece of copper pipe about 4 inches long. Bend the pipe at a 90 degree angle and put a double flare on the end so it seals to the fitting on the manifold. You can rent a flare tool at any auto parts store.

In the beginning, Henry held a 25.5% stake in the company, but it would definitely not stay that way. In 1919, Henry and Edsel would buy out all the other 10 owners so that the Ford family could gain full control of the company that bore their name. The first Ford facility was located on Mack Avenue in Detroit. There are few inventions that people consider to be fundamental in the shaping of the world as we know it.
