2019 Land Rover Defender Caught Undisguised In The Flesh
Land Rover can鈥檛 seem to catch a break as a new picture of the 2020 Defender has surfaced on Instagram. While the hood on this particular model has been removed, the Defender has a slender single bar grille that is flanked by squared off headlight covers which house circular lighting units. Further below, we can see a wide lower intake with a contrasting silver insert. Elsewhere, the Defender has plastic body cladding and pronounced fender flares that are integrated into the design of the vehicle. We can also see a prominent shoulder line that appears to encircle the entire model. All new defender ! There isn鈥檛 much else to see, but the Defender has front fender vents and a contrasting white roof. There鈥檚 also a sweptback windscreen and black accents on the A-pillars. While photo doesn鈥檛 show the rear of the Defender, the model鈥檚 digital instrument cluster already revealed it will have relatively flat roof with what appears to be a skylight on the 110 variant. The SUV also sports a nearly vertical rear end with a rear-mounted spare tire. The unique styling will continue in the cabin as the Defender will have a unique dashboard, a small infotainment system and a protruding center stack. The latter is home to a stubby gear selector, dual-zone climate controls and dedicated buttons for things such as the ride height and window defoggers. Land Rover hasn鈥檛 said much about engine options, but the automaker recently confirmed the Defender will be launched with conventional and mild-hybrid powertrains. That isn鈥檛 much to go on, but the model could offer an assortment of four-cylinder engines sourced from the Discovery Sport and Evoque.
鈥淭he new Defender gives us the license to do things differently, to push the boundaries and do the unthinkable, without ever losing the character and authenticity of the original,鈥?said Nick Rogers, executive director, product engineering, Jaguar Land Rover. Designers lifted the Defender鈥檚 body structure by almost an inch compared to the other large SUVs in Land Rover鈥檚 lineup. It also relocated the battery and cooling circuits to create front and rear overhangs. The wheelbase is 119 inches. That鈥檚 almost 4 inches longer than the Land Rover Discovery. The new body architecture provides ground clearance of 11.5 inches. The height improved off-road geometry. The Defender 110 has approach, breakover and departure angles of 38, 28 and 40 degrees. The short rear overhang results from mounting the spare wheel externally, rather than under the rear floor. The Defender offers fully-independent suspension, a twin-speed transfer box and permanent four-wheel drive. The optional Configurable Terrain Response allows drivers to fine-tune the vehicle to match off-road conditions. Drivers also can prevent cross-axle slip using the Center Slip Limited and Center and Rear Slip Limited options on the central touchscreen controller. Also, there is a choice of three settings for the throttle and gearbox response, steering and traction control. They allow experienced off-roaders and novices to tailor the vehicle to their driving abilities. The Defender is also the first Land Rover vehicle to feature a standard Wade Sensing program.
And after having ogled at the pictures of the new Mazda2, I鈥檇 say that it perfectly embodies the grace and the looks of a car fit to run around the streets of Europe. Choices of the engine for the new Mazda2 include two 1.3-liter engines. One of these can produce 74 bhp while the other produces 85 bhp. A bigger 1.5-liter engine is also available. This slightly bigger gas engine can produce 102 bhp. Transmission is manual but we all know that it is much better to drive cars like the Mazda2 with clutches than those with automatic shifters. Overall, I think that Mazda鈥檚 new Mazda2 is a great looking car. And the fact that the automaker refused to make it bigger increased their rating in my books. Lol. But kidding aside, Mazda has proven that it is one of the best in making small cars and the Mazda2 is definitely one of those cars that Mazda has gotten right.
Removing your in-dash car radio is generally quick and easy. Removal and installation are best carried out from the front passenger seat if you are right-handed. Some, but only a small number of cars, will require the dash surrounding the radio to be removed as the radio may be held in with screws. Your first step is to remove your original radio. Pay close attention to the steps involved, as refitting is simply a reverse of the removal. There are various radio-mounting methods used among the different car manufacturers. For radios that have either one or two small round holes on either side of the radio, you can use standard (DIN) radio removal Keys found in all car accessory shops or websites. DIN radio tools release the majority of radios found in pre-2004 Fiat, Ford, Land Rover, MG, Peugeot, Rover models and many makes of radio. Simply insert the keys into the holes until they lock into place (for radios with only two holes, you can simply bend the keys).
