2019 Land Rover LR2 Review & Ratings
We discovered that four 6-foot adults could find room inside, but a BMW X3 feels more commodious. Land Rover tells us that there are 59 cubic feet of cargo volume when the rear seat is folded flat, but the 26.5 cubic feet of volume when the second seat is fully upright seemed only adequate to us. A DOHC 3.2.-liter inline-6 is mounted transversely under the LR2's hood. The new engine is impressively smooth and proves an ideal foil for the transmission. Our only significant criticism concerns the engine's lack of torque low in the rpm range. The LR2 weighs 4,255 pounds, so this inline-6 needs to be worked hard to deliver its best, which will inevitably compromise the fuel consumption. The days are long gone when Land Rover customers were willing to sacrifice on-road comfort in favor of mud-plugging ability. Today's Land Rover owners demand both carlike on-road performance and class-leading off-road ability.
When a suggestion has been imported from User Voice, you'll see three separate vote counts. The two vote counts shown as tags are the vote counts that the idea received originally on User Voice. The third vote count displayed to the left of the suggestion lets you see how many votes the suggestion is getting from Developer Community. The voting system in User Voice operates differently from the votes in Developer Community. To maintain integrity of Developer Community vote counts and avoid skewing the data, we decided to show the User Voice vote counts prominently as a tag (instead of votes) for each suggestion. How long can I expect actions to take? We're fully committed to listening to your feature suggestions and taking actions to provide valuable experiences to our customers. Actions on suggestions are prioritized based on impact to the broader community. Even if we can't respond personally to every suggestion, we'll make sure that your feedback gets to the right team and is evaluated carefully. The response time depends on the status your feedback is in. Please review the explanation of statuses in this document to understand the response times.
The petrol model we tried was remarkably hushed, with no notable engine noise - even at speeds of 70mph or more. It鈥檚 a shame this version won鈥檛 match the diesel鈥檚 fuel economy, because it鈥檚 a more accomplished long-distance cruiser. Of course, being a Land Rover means the Disco Sport remains peerless when the going gets tough. We took on a dusty, rocky off-road route and both versions refused to falter - even over some pretty torrid ground. From higher-speed gravel tracks to slower and more precarious downhill sections, the revised 4x4 took it all in its stride. When you鈥檙e not tackling mountains or fording streams, a power transfer unit disconnects the rear axle, theoretically improving fuel consumption. Regardless, it should be just fine on the average UK school run. Speaking of fuel consumption, it鈥檚 quite tricky to pinpoint exactly how much more efficient this new model is given the fact that every Discovery Sport is now assessed under the tougher WLTP test regime. However, a rough calculation on this D240 model suggests CO2 emissions have dropped by around 14 per cent - though our car still sits in the upper echelons for Benefit in Kind company car tax.
It has no options and comes fully loaded. 3. Off road stuff. Full underbody armor package, KDSS, rated recovery hooks, beefy ball joints, control arms, bump stops, bushings and shocks. 4. Built with parts unique to the land cruiser that are designed for 25 year service life. All Land Cruisers are built around the concept of a 25 year service life and that means more expensive and durable components. For example, the windshield is 2mm thicker than standard Toyota and the entire exhaust is stainless steel and double thick for corrosion protection and no warping/cracking when you dunk it in water hot. 5. Its a low volume niche model. Toyota knows full well that the 200 series isn鈥檛 for everyone, nor do they care. B. Brand loyal - They will be back to buy a Lexus RX for their spouse, a Corolla for their daughter and a 4Runner for their son. Contrary to popular opinion, most people in this crowd don鈥檛 care if its not up to the minute design or stacked with the latest features. Most US Land Cruiser buyers want: QDR - Quality, Dependability, Reliability. It also has to be super safe and hold its value.
