2019 Land Rover LR2 Serpentine Belt And Water Pump Replacement
Mark: Hi it鈥檚 Mark from Top Local, we鈥檙e here with Bernie Pawlik, Pawlik Automotive in Vancouver, Vancouver鈥檚 best auto service experience. How鈥檙e you doing Bernie? Bernie: I鈥檓 doing very well. Mark: So we鈥檙e going to talk about a Land Rover, 2009 LR2 what鈥檚 going on with this Land Rover? Bernie: Well the vehicle was brought to us for a maintenance service. The client just bought the vehicle and it was due for I think it was about a 100,000 kilometre maintenance service and one of the items on the maintenance service is actually to replace the serpentine belt. There鈥檚 wasn鈥檛 too much on this service, but the belt was one of the replacement items. Mark: So a belt can sound pretty straight forward but I know they can be a pretty complicated procedure. How was this one? Bernie: Well this one is really complicated, as a matter of fact, I think as far as in the world of serpentine belt replacement, this is the worst one possible. Now there鈥檚 a Volvo model, a vehicle, I hate to say it鈥檚 an XC60 or 90, they share the same platform as the LR2 and they have exactly, so it鈥檚 the same engine. So they鈥檙e in the same category of replacement but yeah, this is the, I think quite possibly the worst drive belt to replace on any vehicle we鈥檝e ever seen. Mark: Ok, did you find anything else when you replaced? Bernie: Yeah, we did actually. We found that the water pump was leaking and that was not at all visible. Bernie: Yeah, yeah it鈥檚 interesting. Bernie: Yeah, it is, it is amazing. We find them all over the place. I don鈥檛 know if it鈥檚 a good thing actually, maybe it鈥檚 a good thing they鈥檙e all Ford vehicles in this shop, it doesn鈥檛 maybe say so much good about them and their quality, but they鈥檙e pretty good vehicles overall. Mark: So how are LR2s actually for reliability? Mark: So there you go. If you鈥檙e looking for service for your Land Rover in Vancouver, they guys to see are Pawlik Automotive.
I am comparing Jeep sales with Land Rover's in three countries, on three continents, all former British colonies. First Canada: Jeep 30,200 / Land Rover 2,000 for a 94% to 6% split. Second: South Africa (RSA) Jeep 1,800 / LR 4,000 for a 31% to 69% split. Third: Australia Jeep 4,200 / Land Rover 3,800 for a 52% to 48% split. In Canada Jeep outsells LR by 16:1. In Australia, it's about 11:10 for Jeep. RSA has it in LR's favour roughly 2:1. Why the difference? Canada is heavily influenced by big brother USA so Jeep rules but Land Rover should do much better there. Australia has a big LR history and it shares solid support from loyal customers. RSA has a massive LR heritage and this shows in their popularity. So far in 2010, LR sales have gone ballistic in the Republic. Overall, Jeeps are rough, rugged and uncouth. Land Rover has the workhorse Defender, but the rest of the range is pure class. In that sense, they don't really compete. However, they are the two brands that mean 4X4s, off road vehicles. They both have strong loyalty and both are very successful.
Towards the end of the 1970s SEB was looking to replace it's fleet of 1-Ton and 30cwt Land Rovers, however this proved very difficult as both of these models had gone out of production. The 30cwt Forward Control lasted until 1973, and the 1-Ton was axed in 1977. This led the board to have to search around for a suitable replacement. Land Rover steadfastly refused to re-introduce the 1-Ton and FC models. The eventual replacement was the Russian built UAZ 452, sold in the UK as the "Trekmaster". These were purchased in 1979, although I have not yet been able to establish who imported them, or if they were built with right hand drive or converted in the UK. The vehicles SEB purchased were all van bodied and fitted with a winch. I have not as yet been able to identify the type of winch fitted however it is not apparently the same as the mayflower drum winch fitted to Land Rovers. It could even be an electric design. The only similar type I have seen is fitted to a Land Rover fire engine. SEB bought 19 of these vehicles, however they only lasted in service until the early 1980s. There were apparently problems with the vehicles overheating in summer, and difficulties in obtaining spare parts. Photos with thanks from Keith Jeffries. The vehicle in the photos was registered as CJH243V. CJH242V and CJH244V were also UAZ vehicles.
In contrary this one will be weird if it is used in the big city situation where there must be another way of getting the impression through the car dimension. People of the adventure will like this design and this powerful car so much. The 2020 Land Rover Defender will be liked by people who like the kind of the modern design but in the same time also the touch of the exotic sense there. The design of this car is actually similar to other kinds of modern car; nevertheless, there can be found some additional touches into the aspect of the color choices for example and the back part of the car. There can be found some common information from the 2020 Land Rover Defender reviews in the internet that this one actually is designed by combining the classic and the modern style. The classic touch can be found in its dimension that is actually common to be found in so many kinds of classic cars. Because of the classic style used, so the sense of the exotic appearance can be found. Then the modern touch of the 2020 Land Rover Defender can be found relates to the modification into the back part and also the front part of the car in whole. The modern touch into those significant parts can give the whole sensation of the right combination between the classic and modern style. The combination makes the unique appearance and so that is actually the additional value of this car.
