Which means Aimee needs a new drive-to-work car. 70 a month to pay for a newer car. This is doable if we put down a couple-three thousand. We've looked at a Prius, the only car that really gets up to 50 mpg. The only one we've had time to see is a high miler for six thousand dollars, a little over-priced on the blue book, but close by and convenient. But there are more Prius's to look at. We can get one eventually. Problem is, we don't have time to car shop. So this project might take until midsummer to finish. And it's going to be a pain. We'll just have to be patient. Where, oh where, is the mint 1960-70 diesel Land Rover pick-up of my dreams? The only car I'd ever need again for the rest of my life. Aimee wants to take the Prius's to a dealer for checking out. She says she would trust my opinion on a 1970 Land Rover but not on a 2000's Prius. I'll remember that one for the rest of my life too. She won't live it down.
In the UK, the Discovery3 is only available with a diesel engine, although export models can be ordered with petrol. The diesel unit is the 2.7- litre V6 which is used in the Jaguar XJ series and has just gone into the new Jaguar XF. The introduction of the more efficient turbo diesel V8 in Range Rover Sport and Range Rover has helped to keep the brand at the forefront of the luxury SUV segment in countries all around the world. Some 25,000 Defender models are produced every year and while most are working tools for everyone from farmers and foresters to aid agencies, the new SVX is the most stylish and featurepacked version that Land Rover has ever produced. This special edition was launched to celebrate the company's 60th anniversary and orders are being taken now for May delivery. A total of 200 SVX vehicles will be made available in the UK - 140 twoseat Defender 90 soft-tops and 60 four-seat 90 station wagons. The model will go on show at the Geneva Motor Show in March and prices will be announced around that time. With metallic black paintwork and subtle satin black graphic decals, the Defender SVX is particularly distinctive. To bring the SVX interiors right up to date, it is equipped with customdesigned Recaro front seats, distinctive alloy gear knob, a new audio system (with subwoofer and USB socket), iPod cradle and Garmin satellite navigation. The Range Rover turbo diesel V8 is even more efficient.
Land Rover in disguise! The latest image shows the chunky off-roader with its Defender name clearly visible and with the tell-tale protective metal tread-plates on either side of the bonnet. The image of the new undisguised rufty-tufty Bond Defender was leaked from the set of the latest 007 movie now being shot and due for release next year and seen on Instagram. Filming for the new James Bond movie, No Time to Die, is well underway. A few things come to mind. Firstly, the winch is excellent. Secondly, the alpine windows are still there! Thirdly, the rear passenger door looks massive 鈥?you鈥檒l never open that in a Tesco car park! Fourthly, there seems to be quite a bit of wheel clearance (though it鈥檚 unknown if this is standard height, off road height, or on coils!). Fifthly, checker on the bonnet (yes, the bonnet is a funny shape and there is no real wing to speak of). Sixthly, I鈥檓 not sure about the mirrors at all.
