2019 Land Rover Defender: Born Again In The USA
The design is respectful of the old Defender, but less so than the latest Wrangler redesign is in keeping features of the old. 鈥淭he new Defender is respectful of its past but is not harnessed by it,鈥?Gerry McGovern, Land Rover chief design officer, said in a statement. The top Defender X trim level gets a gloss-black hood accent and claddings, along with satin-finish skid plates and other exterior trim. Buyers can order a factory 鈥淪atin Protective Film鈥?wrap to protect the bodywork and add a satin-finish look. Wheels range from standard 18s to a whopping 22 inches. When the 90 model arrives, it will offer a full-length fabric roof for open-air treks. As you鈥檇 expect in a Land Rover, there are varied leather and textile upholstery and trim finishes offered for the interior, but the design is less high-style and more about practicality than others. A choice of center consoles is offered for storage options, and also available is a distinctive center 鈥渏ump seat鈥?that can offer three-across seating in the front row or fold down for storage and cupholders. 2鈥?version with occasional seats in the back.
For the new Ford Ranger returning for 2019, it will feature a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is tipped, however, that the MY18 Ranger - or at least the Raptor version - will debut Ford's new 10-speed automatic transmission, a unit it co-developed with arch-rival General Motors. Developed by Ford Asia Pacific, the heavily upgraded 2018 Ranger is expected to become available with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that, at least in the Raptor, promises more power and torque than the Ranger's current 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre 鈥榝ive'. Ford Motor Company announced that the hugely popular Ford Ranger pickup truck will be available in an off-road performance variant for the first time, carrying the name 鈥楩ord Ranger Raptor'. U.S.-based 2019 Ford Ranger models will employ a standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that is expected to be available in the Ranger Raptor. The Ranger Raptor also features a new engine; a 2.0-liter biturbo diesel engine rated for 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
