A Day In The Life Of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
This is to discuss various matters of State, and other personal matters. Nobody is ever allowed to know what is discussed. This has always been kept between the Monarch and the Prime Minister. Every evening at 7.30 the Queen will read a report of the day鈥檚 Parliamentary proceedings. Other evenings are taken up with Concerts, film premiers or receptions in aid of charity. And then of course there are the Official Royal Receptions that she hosts at Buckingham Palace for various causes. If she is going abroad for overseas visits, she will hold a reception for the visiting dignitaries of that Country beforehand. If she has any spare time, she will visit her employees and tenant farmers, as she takes a great deal of interest in them and the land. She is also interested in horses, and breeds them too. Along with her family, and other commitments, you would think that Her Majesty would be tired at the end of the day, and glad to relax. Its been said that many a night, when everybody else has gone to bed, the light can be seen from her room.

First it was the 1,000,00th Discovery, now it's the 300,000th Land Rover Freelander 2 (LR2). You remember the LR2, don't you? It's the little Land Rover that has been soldiering on despite living in the significant shadow of the larger Land Rover LR4 and the Range Rover trinity. Land Rover doesn't run many national sales events, so when the Drive the Extraordinary push was announced we suspected there was something good on the way. That something good happened to be a purchase incentive on the all-new 2012 Range Rover Evoque. But while I have no complaints about the performance, this is certainly not one of those cars where passengers say, 鈥淚s this really a diesel? 鈥?In fact, as they sit there, vibrating, they may ask what you are using instead of fuel. It鈥檚 like a powerplate with a tax disc. It鈥檚 so unrefined when it starts that after a while I disengaged the system that cuts the engine when you stop at the lights and starts it again when you put your foot on the clutch. This may save half a thimble full of fuel but it drove me mad. Because of this roughness, the car cannot have a five-star rating. However, it does get four. Which, is four more than I was hoping to award. The fact is, though, that the cost of fuel and the blinkered prejudice found in the nation鈥檚 mental yurt-heads has resulted in something that鈥檚 pretty damn good.
