2019 Land Rover LR2 HSE Review
A six-speed automatic transmission sends power through an adjustable Haldex all-wheel drive system to all four wheels. Mileage is officially rated at 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway for the HSE trimmed LR2. That is a 2 mpg improvement in both categories over the outgoing 3.2-liter engine. After just a short time behind the wheel, the extra power and refinement from the new engine can be felt. There is a moment of turbo lag from the 2.0-liter motor, but once on boost, it moves the crossover with authority. Land Rover claims a sprint of 0-60 MPH in 8.2 seconds which the LR2 feels more than capable of achieving. The engine is also more pleasant sounding than the BMW X3鈥檚 turbocharged four-cylinder. Despite being down a gear or two to most competitors, the Land Rover鈥檚 6-speed gearbox is smooth and in sport mode, will fire off downshift fairly quickly. It is also capable of towing 3,500 lbs as long as it is a braked trailer. Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Some Friday-morning quarterbacking shows that Indian automaker Tata Motors clearly landed one of the automotive deals of the century in its acquisition of British marques Jaguar and Land Rover, earlier this week. Right off the bat, the numbers appeared quite lopsided in Tata鈥檚 favor. 600 million back into the Jaguar and Land Rover pension program. 3.3 billion for Land Rover, in 1999. Work out even a modest rate of return if the U.S. 鈥檛 need to be a math wiz to figure out who came out on the bottom of the deal. But when you dig even deeper, the numbers look even worse - a lot worse. 50 billion based on the best estimates gleaned from the carmaker's financial records. Ford hasn't always broken out Jaguar's losses. However, the red ink needs be added to the ongoing capital investment in the English luxury marquee.

Mazda is actively engaged in developing unique technologies, including the hydrogen rotary engine, as part of its efforts to achieve the early realization of a sustainable society. In particular, Mazda clean energy vehicles running not only on hydrogen but also on gasoline and diesel are expected to play a major role during the process of developing a hydrogen infrastructure. Output of the evolved power unit is increased by 40% compared with the RX-8 Hydrogen RE resulting in much better acceleration performance. The hydrogen rotary engine, the core unit of the model, is changed from a longitudinal to a transverse layout and its intake/exhaust resistance and combustion efficiency are improved to yield high output across a wide range of engine speeds. In addition, a new concept hybrid system to match the new hydrogen rotary engine has been developed.
Despite the fact that this small crossover came in 2011, it still looks pretty fresh and attractive. However, the company wants to keep it competitive in one of the most demanding segments in the automotive industry in these days. So, the new, second-generation model is about to come next year. The testing model has been caught on the road and we can already see some of the novelties that Land Rover has prepared for us. Of course, most of them are still kept a secret. From what we can see, the new 2020 Evoque will continue in a familiar manner, but with significant improvements in all aspects. Judging on the spy photos, it is easy to notice that the 2020 Land Rover Evoque is going to keep similar proportions and overall shape. On the other side, we will see a new sheet metal, this time with even more sharp lines. Of course, the area that will suffer most is the front end.
