For a land mobile robot, we need to consider about the terrain and obstacles it needs to overcome.Mechanical design of the robot is highly dependent on this details. A suspension is the system which allows the relative motion between wheels and the body and connect them together. Rocker Bogie is a special suspension mechanism designed for land mobile platforms. Expectation of this design is providing a maximum stability to the platform in all kinds of difficult terrains. A surface with rough terrain including rocks, pits, sand or even stairs can be overcome by a mobile platform with the use of this mechanism. When we hear the name 'Suspension Mechanism' , at least one spring or shock-absorber will come to our mind. But unlike many other suspension systems we are familiar with, this one has no above hardware parts. Rocker bogie system has two main parts as shown i the following figure. An 825-watt Meridian surround-sound audio system with 16 speakers and a subwoofer is newly available for LR2 and LR2 HSE models; it's standard in the HSE LUX edition. Beneath the LR2 hood is a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with high-pressure direct fuel injection and variable valve timing, lifted directly from the Range Rover Evoque. The four-cylinder turbo replaced the prior six-cylinder engine for 2013. Output is rated at 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque (derived at low engine speed), driving a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is EPA-estimated at 17/24 mpg City/Highway. Three models are available, LR2, HSE, and HSE LUX. Even the basic LR2 is abundantly equipped, boasting such features as grained leather seat upholstery, power front seats, a 380-watt Meridian sound system, and a dual-panel panoramic sunroof. I took a photo of the road I skipped. It had the right route number: BLM Route CL8839. I drove past that trail and kept looking for the 2nd trail. It never came. Eventually I gave up, figuring that I messed up. I knew the road continued on because I drove it several years ago. I suspect that the powerline road is much easier to drive than the fiber cable road that I drove. I'll have to drive that on a future trip when I'm passing this way and I can spare some time. This section was slow going at first. I was driving less than 9 mph for the first 2 miles after missing my turn. The road conditions slowly improved and I was going as fast as 14 mph by the time I reached the Zyzyx exit area. Near the Zyzyx exit, I turned left onto BLM Route CL8847 to head up to the powerline road I wanted to be driving.
