September 23, 2019 - Land Rover today announced an off-road driving skills competition for its North American retailers, Land Rover TReK 2020, to be held this year during the launch of the highly anticipated New Land Rover Defender. With the launch of the New Defender, the Land Rover product lineup will expand to three families of highly-capable vehicles: Range Rover, Discovery and Defender. This year鈥檚 competition will pit 53 three-person teams - each representing the various sales regions for Land Rover across the U.S. Canada - against each other in head to head team and group challenges. The teams will compete in a series of 53 identically customized 2020 Land Rover Discovery SUVs for the preliminary qualifying trials taking place at the Land Rover Experience Center at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina this week. The winning team from each wave of competition will then head to the TReK Finals held in January 2020 in Palm Springs, California, where they will compete with the New 2020 Land Rover Defender. The reintroduction of the TReK competition is timed ahead of the return of the Defender family to the Land Rover brand. The previous generation model of the Defender ceased global production in 2016 and has been absent from the U.S. 20 years; last being offered for the 1997 model year. The original TReK competition was established in 1996 in the image of the iconic Camel Trophy as a U.S. From 1996 through 2003 these annual competitions were held across the country. In 2001, following five years of success in North America, TReK expanded its influence when the first global TReK competition was held in South Africa.

However, Mazda has 'engineered in' an appealing noise when the engines are pushed hard; in our experience, that just means you hear too much from them when you鈥檙e trying to get a move on. The Mazda 6 has a comfortable driver鈥檚 seat and the dashboard is relatively uncluttered, with ventilation controls down low and the infotainment system up high. The 6 has masses of room in the front and rear; it鈥檚 easy for a six-footer to sit behind a passenger of equal height, and three adults can sit alongside each other in the back. They won鈥檛 complain about leg- or headroom, either. The boot is a useful 489 litres, but the saloon body hampers its versatility. A hatchback version isn鈥檛 offered, either; Mazda believes that the Tourer model will fulfil customers鈥?needs for greater practicality. The 6 range starts with SE spec, which brings daytime running lights, electric door mirrors, keyless start, air-conditioning and a colour touch-screen as standard. Two further variants of this spec are available: SE-L, which adds rain-sensing wipers, climate control and front and rear parking sensors, and SE-L Nav, which brings TomTom sat-nav.
