2019 Land Rover Defender Configurator
One of the most important highlights, if not the biggest highlight, of the Frankfurt Motor Show is of course the all-new Land Rover Defender, with the British car maker losing absolutely no time in launching the official configurator. As expected, the new Land Rover Defender can be tailored with numerous options and packages which means that you could be spending hours on the configurator trying to find the perfect spec for your Defender. Right now there is only the 110 bodystyle available and two engine options to choose from; the base turbo four-cylinder with 296 HP and the mild-hybrid six-cylinder with 395 HP. Standard and S trim levels are available with the base engine while the rest come with the six-cylinder engine. Moving on to the Country pack, which is aimed to those who will only occasionally take their Defender for some light off-roading while the Urban pack is the one with the least accessories - and the cheapest one. We went for the Pangea Green paint option and the satin protective film, along with the white roof option and the gorgeous 18-inch white steel wheels. Of course we opted for the Explorer pack because it鈥檚 our dream Defender, and we will take that trip to Sahara some time in the future, eventually. Things inside were kept simple; we opted for the six-seat configuration that includes a front jump seat, black fabric upholstery and a White Powder Coat finish for the dashboard to brighten things up a little. Some might like their Defender to be as posh as a Range Rover, other will prefer a more workhorse-like spec just to evoke the spirit of the original. The choice is yours.
Land Rover owners have experienced problems with the Freelander. Here are some early reported complaints. Owners may be entitled to compensation but critical questions concern filing claims after the warranty has ended, concealment of the problem, and the existence of claims during the warranty period. I have a constant nightmare with my Freelander, I being reporting one problem after another and the Dealer complains not to find the problem or claim to fixed, but pass several month all came back again, over and over. After 75,000 miles and the extended warrantee expired they suddenly found the problem. BUT, they charge and excessive amount of money for the repair and the problem still there. I have being on found different repair shots and none of them have being able to fix the problem. The contact owns a 2003 Land Rover Freelander. While driving at any speed, the vehicle completely shut down on at least four occasions.
You may be warned about parts that always break, in which the company may request you also purchase that part ahead of time. You may find a lot of companies simply glue those parts back into place, rather than replacing the broken parts. On vehicles like a Ford Mustang and Ford F150, you may have a logo in the third visor above the rear view mirror. These windshields can be ordered with out the logo and are cheaper that way. Make sure you ask about your options. Most windshields have a small narrow window for viewing of the VIN identification number near the lower drivers side portion of the glass. Make sure this window is in the right location on the glass. When the job is completed, make sure that glue has not covered the VIN, the VIN number plate has not been cut off, or that it has not been badly damaged. Police or the DMV will give you a hard time if the number is not legible or is completely missing from that location.
My Land Rover can鈥檛 get it up anymore what can I do? Land Rover and Range Rover suspension systems are among the most troublesome in the market. The basic design is an air pump that fills rubber boots which replace the springs found in most other vehicles. The idea is you ride on a cushion of air that will absorb all of the bumps on or off the road. The reality is you have a very complex system of expensive valves, pumps, hoses and airbags. All of these fail in one way or another usually sooner rather then later. Lets talk about the causes of the failures of the Land Rover suspension and Ranger Rover suspension, and what we can do to lower the repair bills when they fail. The key is to repair the small problem before it escalates. One scenario is you wake up , go out to your Range Rover and its sitting all the way down on its wheels.
