First Drive: 2019 Land Rover LR2 [Review]

First Drive: 2019 Land Rover LR2 [Review]

The baby Land Rover's version makes 240 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 250 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm. For those keeping track, that's an increase of 10 ponies and 16 lb-ft, respectively, over the outgoing six-cylinder. Fuel economy increases to 17/24 mpg, which is a big bump over the old six but still shy of the more svelte Evoque's 20/28 mpg. The engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with normal and sport modes plus a manual-style gate. Befitting the Land Rover badge, it is all coupled to a full-time four-wheel drive system with a Haldex rear differential that automatically splits power between the rear wheels. Heavily biased to the front wheels under normal conditions, power nearly instantly transfers rearward when needed. The LR2's Terrain Response system remains one of the core features of the entire Land Rover brand, even though this little 'ute does without a two-speed transfer case.

Sometimes this can be exasperating, particularly if you are busy in your day to day life yourself and just hope things will be ok- they usually are not! Just managing 3 staff here at home is actually a part time job in itself. Then there is managing 11 more in Nanyuki! Basically team work is not easy to maintain in Kenyan society in fact not at all natural to them. In this tough to survive part of the world- it is basically everyman for himself. For centuries they have had very little and the opportunities now offered for more, encourages greed, in one way or another. This is a very simplistic way of explaining the corruption throughout Africa. It starts at the top and filters down! So take your eleven staff you are trying to get to work together for the good of all. However look the other way for a mo and hey presto someone has 'fallen out' with someone else, or some mistake has been made and the finger is pointed at anyone else possible!

Walked in and was not greeted by the greeter (see pic) with attitude from the greeter. I was hoping someone came along and purchased her a carGreeter made one call for salesman and then left us standing in place for 15 minutes or so. We approached her and all you could see was her horrible attitude. Exhausting at this point. Harry showed up and actually did his job without an attitude. They say the all work as a team, while we were waiting there was an available salesman to help. He was so available he was still standing in the same place when we left at 5pm(see pic) The car inspector was in line with Happy! Update 3: 8-28-1019 Marcus the manager called to update us on some additional work..we were all in agreement. We disconnected. Minutes later he call to confront us about the YELP reviewhe basically did not pass us on blah! I guess they forgot who the customer was. They act as if they purchased a car from us.."Marcus The Manager"when your team give crappy service you sir will always take the blame.

The seatbase will get some Dynamat type product stuck to the underside for sound and heat deadening. The tub needs some repair inside the right rear tool box from the PO's denting it while backing into a log. I have most of this pounded out but there is still work to be done that will be easier off the frame. With the tub off I can asess the frame and make the decision as to weather I will just wire brush and paint or galvanize (hot dip) the frame. I need to pull the left front wing off and then all the body work can be prepped for paint. Right now I am leaning to leave the roof top and sides as the limestone(off white) orginal Land Rover color. I want the bonnet(hood) to be flat black as I really dislike the sun reflection off it at any time. The body panels I am leaning towards a butterscotch or perhaps a cobalt blue with some flat black graphics of some sort. I am just thinking of some type of stripes. Since I dance to the beat of a different drummer the thought of a giraffe paint scheme also appeals to me. I know Brett, you're shaking your head! At this point anything is open.
