Land Rover FAQ





Over the years the production numbers of the Land-Rover was reported. Since then the acutal build numbers of each model has been reported. This does not always match up. The "Total" column represents the officially reported numbers unless otherwise noted. The "Difference" column is simply the known totals minus the reported total. Either this indicates other unknown models, or that Land Rover made some addition errors in their reports. Until Sept 1979 the Land-Rover production year was September to August. Exact data for each model by year is not easily available since Rover changed to using chassis numbering systems that span many years. We do know the total that was made from 1962 to 1971 of each type. So a model was used to distribute them based on the reported totals for each year. 2. CKDs (Complete Knock Downs (ie kits for foreign assembly)) are not included in productions figures and have to be assumed. For the years 1962-1970 a straight percentage is used that best fits the model (to make the data best fit overall for those years, so the assumtion is that CKD vehicles were a constant fractions of LR production).





Then came my Land Rover 110, later called the Defender, that I called 鈥楧arien鈥? This has become the most unchanged, familiar design, maybe in the world, unchanged externally, other than a bulge in the bonnet, since 1985. How can anyone still be interested in this car? I know why. Because few vehicles ever produced anywhere have as much of The Thing as a Defender. Every time I pass one, I always give it a second look. Once a Defender lover - always a Defender lover. My next 4x4 was a Mercedes-G. I chose it because of The Thing factor. I loved the looks. But I knew nothing of its performance, and at the time I didn鈥檛 really care. For me, the G is one of few vehicles that approach the Defender when it comes to The Thing. But sadly the pimped versions like the G500 have taken The Thing, and turned it into The Bling.





Times from both the stages will be amalgamated to give each team a total time. The four quickest pairs will then qualify for the finals, where they will compete for the first gold, silver and bronze medals of the Invictus Games. In addition to their backing for the Invictus Games, Jaguar Land Rover supports wounded, injured and sick Service personnel through their involvement in the Race2Recovery motorsport team. For me and indeed all the competitors, there has been so much effort behind the scenes, not just training for the Games but also in adjusting to daily life with our disabilities. Jaguar Land Rover is immensely proud to be enabling the Invictus Games and hosting this exciting driving challenge. We have been inspired by the passion with which Prince Harry has championed this visionary idea, to celebrate the commitment and achievements of wounded, injured and sick Service personnel. The Invictus Games is being organised with the support and backing of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and the Ministry of Defence.





With every passing model year, Mazda continues to refine its flagship model, the Mazda CX-9. Here鈥檚 what鈥檚 new on this stunning, spacious SUV for the 2020 model year. In terms of performance, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 gets a little more pep in its step. The model鈥檚 standard 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four now earns 320 lb-ft of torque, a 10 lb-ft jump from the previous year. The SUV also comes with a new and improved traction control system, known as Off-Road Traction Assist. Enabling this mode lets the vehicle apply unrestricted engine torque while hitting the brakes on wheels without traction. The 2020 Mazda CX-9 boasts a wealth of new standard features at the base trim level, like heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, heated mirrors, automatic headlights, and the entire i-Activsense suite of safety technology. If you decide to upgrade to the Grand Touring model, you鈥檒l be rewarded with heated second-row captain鈥檚 chairs, third-row USB ports and a convenient hands-free power liftgate. For maximum luxury, go all-out and splurge on the Signature trim level. It adds a console to separate the heated captain鈥檚 chairs, along with your choice of two Nappa leather interior color options: Deep Chestnut and Parchment.





Land Rover took a gamble with the Range Rover Evoque in that the vehicle eschewed major off-roading ability in favor of a blend of design and luxury. It鈥檚 a gamble that鈥檚 paid off as the Evoque has drawn in lots of customers that previously would not have thought about one of the British marque鈥檚 vehicles. It鈥檚 hard to think the Evoque has actually been on sale considering that 2012, as the vehicle is still looking fresh. Nonetheless, Land Rover is planning a second-generation Evoque and we鈥檝e just spotted an early test mule for the vehicle. There are some new consumption in the front bumper while at the rear we see some makeshift panels. The layout of the controls in the cabin are unchanged from the present model, though the majority of the actual controls are test units. The platform for the brand-new Evoque is Land Rover鈥檚 LR-MS platform discovered in the present Evoque along with the Discovery Sport. This makes it harder for automakers to get proper clearances to offer diesels. The very first prototypes for the new Evoque ought to begin evaluating late this year or early next. Currently, we鈥檙e expecting the vehicle on sale in 2019, as a 2020 model.
