Keep Mosquitoes At Bay In Your Home And Yard
To transform your home and yard from a breeding ground into a safe haven, follow these suggestions: - Drain standing water 聳 Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water. Once or twice a week, empty water from flower pots, birdbaths, pet bowls, clogged rain gutters, swimming pool covers, wading pools, discarded tires, buckets, barrels, cans and other items that collect water. Drill holes in the bottoms of used containers so water cannot collect. Discard rotting debris 聳 Damp, decaying vegetation becomes a perfect place for mosquitoes to lay their eggs. Collect lawn cuttings, raked leaves and fruit or berries that fall from trees for recycling or mulching. Clean out your eavestroughs, storm and roof gutters throughout the summer. Trim dense shrubbery 聳 Mosquitoes can breed and rest in dense shrubbery, so keep shrubs well trimmed. Repair window and door screens 聳 Mosquitoes can easily fly through ripped or torn screens, so to keep them outside where they belong, replace or repair damaged screens.
As an overland vehicle, the Discovery has only two downfalls, which are not shared by the Prado. The wheel size of 19鈥?cannot be reduced to fit more practical tyres and, the ride height automatically drops to its 鈥榥ormal鈥?setting at only 55-kph, low enough to be very annoying at times. Are these two deal breakers? Maybe. As for the electronics; the Prado VX has just as much, so the two tie. However the Prado TX does not. So there it is. Soon, the Pajero, with its dated styling, even more dated engine and old fashioned ergonomics, is being left so far behind, I wander what will replace it? As the shooting for my TV series comes to a close, the time to hand the Discovery back looms. Of the Prados, Pajeros, Jeeps, Porsche, Subarus, Land Cruisers, Fortuners, Hiluxes, Mahindras, Patrols, Fords and the rest, I can count on one hand the test vehicles that I鈥檝e been truly disappointed to give back. Discovery-4 is near the top of that short list. What鈥檚 at the top? Porsche Cayenne, if you must know.
The real big news about the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the P400e plug-in hybrid trim, which can apparently drive 31 miles on its battery alone. Both SUVs get a few other little updates for the new model year but a water wading depth sensor sounds like the most fun. Range Rovers, even the hybrid, can drive through almost three feet of standing water according to Land Rover. At least, as long as there鈥檚 traction below the surface. The system provides real-time wading depth information relative to the maximum wading capability for the current location of the vehicle. Using sensors on the underside of the door mirrors, the system reports this information to the driver via a dedicated display on the vehicle鈥檚 touchscreen. The system also provides the driver an indication of the vehicle鈥檚 position/angle, and can estimate when the vehicle is potentially going into deeper water or coming out of the water. The driver is able to turn on the Wade Sensing feature using a soft button in the 4x4i menu.
Navigating around corners, the Evoque is best in sport mode with active dampeners to suck up the bumps and reducing body roll. But like its acceleration, the ride is in line with the rest of the Land Rover stable of vehicles. They're not built to go fast -- they're built for luxury and taking on the off-road elements. But an eye on the outdoors life doesn't take away from the tech of the Evoque. In addition to new ClearSight Ground View, the SUV comes with a rear view mirror camera that expands the field of view behind your car without having to worry about any blind spots due to rear passengers. As with the Cadillac and Chevy Bolt, I'm a fan and am looking forward to more automakers putting this feature on their cars. The infotainment system is the same as what I've seen in other Range Rovers, like the Velar. The dual screens divvy up system tasks, with the top screen taking care of navigation, settings, media and communications. Meanwhile, the bottom display is where you control the climate control, vehicle modes and seat adjustments.
Full-size SUVs play an important role in North America. Truck-based or modern crossovers, these models are popular in all 50 states thanks to things like versatility, great performance, excellent safety etc. Many manufacturers have these vehicles in their offer, so consider this class as very competitive. The next year will bring some nice novelties. Of course, don鈥檛 expect to be as turbulent as for small crossovers, but we should see numerous major updates. For example, an almost whole GM fleet should be refreshed. Manufacturers like Land Rover will offer completely new versions of their models, with hybrid powertrains or some other modifications. On the other side, several models, like Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, are pretty fresh and should carry on without more important changes. It is almost certain that the new generation of this famous truck will come in about two years. So, the 2019 Cadillac Escalade could be the last model year of the current version.
