Land Rover鈥檚 LR2 Takes 鈥榬oad Less Traveled鈥?
We鈥檙e on the grounds鈥?5,000 wild acres鈥攐f the world鈥檚 largest log hotel, the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello. Unfortunately, we never got to see the hotel, just a large section of its 100-plus square miles of undeveloped acreage. Land Rover Canada uses part of the forest for its Land Rover Experience Driving School. For us, however, our hosts have carved out a testing route through mud and water and over rocky hills to show off the redesigned 2013 Land Rover LR2鈥檚 capabilities. 42,350 for the LR2, depending on which of the three trim levels they select, generally will never take it off road. But they could, as we learned. And we also learned to respect and appreciate the off-road toughness of this car-based premium compact SUV. US sales for the LR2 aren鈥檛 all that high, mostly because they鈥檝e been siphoned off by Europe, where sales are up 53 percent this year. Thus, the few that make it here鈥?,417 through the first nine months of 2012鈥攅asily find homes. In 2012, Land Rover has enjoyed 20 percent sales growth in North America (41 percent global growth) and even higher brand awareness.
Follow @Brexit, sign up to our Brexit Bulletin, and tell us your Brexit story. In September, Jaguar Land Rover unveiled a new development facility near Coventry in central England, equipped with technologies like 3-D printing and dedicated to a futuristic vision dubbed 鈥淒estination Zero鈥? No emissions, accidents or congestion. Early next month, Britain鈥檚 biggest auto manufacturer plans to add another goose egg: Zero production. The maker of luxurious Jaguar sedans and rugged Range Rover SUVs is idling its U.K. Oct. 31 deadline for leaving the European Union. The shutdown will go ahead whether the U.K. After a weekend of political chaos that left Prime Minister Boris Johnson鈥檚 withdrawal agreement in tatters, the answer to that question remains as elusive as it was more than three years ago when the country voted to leave. U.K. Plc is nowhere nearer the clarity it craves. 鈥淲e need tariff free, frictionless and seamless conditions to do business,鈥?Ralf Speth, chief executive officer of Jaguar Land Rover, said in an interview on Sunday.
700 bill for my oil change. At first I thought it was a joke or an error but quickly they assured me this is a fact. Perhaps auto sales have slid and they are trying to make up lost revenues on "after purchase services". I really assumed that my services would be No Charge much like in the past when I spend over 100k on my auto's. I also assumed that because it was blank meant that their was no charge! I also assumed that Land Rover Calgary knows how much their service is and intentionally does not put the price in so people don't run away screaming. People don't really have a problem being gouged a little bit when going to the dealership. I chalk it up to a convenience! I chalk it up to experience with the specific vehicle. I would have just shook my head! But to intentionally NOT inform me that you are going to RAPE a valued customer definitely confirms that you have lost my business permanently.
If you can't seem to find a classic Range Rover at a reasonable price in Spain, perhaps blame Erica and Nick. The Dutch cousins who new reside in Texas grew up in the back of a Series Land Rover, and the formative years spent with that honest off-roader made sure they'd never want an office job. Staring out in the classic car import business in their early 20s, they've been shipping rust-free Euro goodies stateside for four years now, fixing them up and selling them off. G Wagens, Land Crusiers, classic Porsches and Italian exotics? You name it, the cousins have imported it. But there's something special about the classic Range Rovers, even when they are parked next to the legendary Defender. The world's first luxury SUVs evolved from the 1970s all the way though 1994, and those boxy originals are a far cry from their later descendants. Reliability isn't the challenge. Three decades on, that will always come down to maintenance, something we keep repeating about vintage Alfa Romeos. The most difficult part is buying cars from Europeans who actually loved them and cared for them, no matter how many faults they may have had鈥攁nd may need convincing before they put them in the hands of American importers. To live up to their motto and prove that classic Range Rovers rule, the two Dutch-Texans took a 1975 V8 and 1987 VM diesel on a 1200-mile round trip to Big Bend, though heat, water, dust, and everything in between. Because that's what they were designed for, by Land Rover, with passion.
