Timing Chain Problems 2019-newer Jaguar Land Rover AJ V8 Engines

Tensioner and main guide rail for Land Rover AJ V8, 2012. Land Rover isn鈥檛 the only engine where that鈥檚 a concern, and turning engines backward is no exactly common. Furthermore, we have seen skipped chains on engines whose owners swear they were never manually turned backward. If correct, this may mean the tensioners are losing tension on their own, or it may mean the chains are losing their grip on the gears. We have also seen slipped chains in engines whose the oiler tubes have been torn off by contact with the running chains. The only way that contact could happen would be for the chains to go slack on overrun, which again suggests tensioners are failing on their own. If an oiler lube (several inches long) got pulled into a timing gear, it鈥檚 not hard to imagine the chain slipping a few teeth in passing. It is also possible to get chain, guide, and gear failure when the oil breaks down and the chains stretch and wear. In some cases you have a clue to this by the sight of sludge and black debris under the covers.

Whereas Volvo's AWD system kicks in when sensors detect slippage, Terrain Response dials in the desired control in advance. The LR2 also has Hill Descent Control, Roll Stability Control and Gradient Release to prevent rolling backward on an incline by releasing the brake in stages. Fortunately, the LR2 is not lacking on the blacktop, with a monococque structure on an independent suspension. In terms of rigidity, its engineers say only the Range Rover and Porsche Cayenne are stiffer than the LR2. Powering this 5-passenger CUV with stadium seating is a version of the 3.2L DOHC I-6 developed with Volvo Cars and tweaked for each auto maker's respective vehicles, recognizing the different expectations for the Volvo S80 sedan. Mounted transversely to create more front-passenger space, for Land Rover the I-6 generates 230 hp and 234 lb.-ft. The I-6 boasts a patented Cam Profile Switching system with two different cam profiles machined into the same camshaft; one is ideal for low-speed low-load towing, and the other is tapped for higher speeds and bigger loads.

While offering superior ride quality and excellent off road ability all round air suspension has helped set it apart from its rivals. However, there are a lot of components in the system and faults are commonplace. Most air suspension faults have the same symptoms, a SUSPENSION INACTIVE message will show on the dash display. Even though the majority of the suspension components are heavy duty parts they are on a vehicle that weighs the best part of 3 tons so eventually they are going to give. We are coming across this issue quite frequently on the later model Range Rover L322s. If you have noticed that your fuel gauge is reading incorrectly then this can be caused by a faulty fuel pump or a faulty ECU. However, we have found that often it is just an issue with the connectors that attach the wiring loom to the fuel sender unit that corrode giving intermittent signals and fortunately these can be replaced. It is a common fault with a number of Land Rover models. Another issue we are seeing more of in our workshop on the Range Rover L322 is failing ignition switches. If you are finding difficulty turning the key in the ignition then this is generally the reason.

These cars currently have autopilot where they drive themselves with an attentive driver at the wheel, which really takes the stress out of traffic. It was so cool to let the car drive itself. The service here and the professionalism of the young men working here to explain a lot of new things and educate people as they come in. They were very patient with my technology challenged wife. Tesla is working on fully autonomous, where the car can drive itself with nobody inside to run errands, make money as taxi, taking multiple people to work /school. The experts say that we wouldn't have traffic issues if cars drove themselves. All you left lane riders! Slower traffic stays right by law. Follow it. It is the way the German Autobahn works. Be courteous and move over, people. My PSA for the day. This was the worst sales experience I have ever had. I was treated as if I couldn't afford to be in the store and had no salesman attempt any conversation to help in my decision of purchasing a Tesla.
