What Are Bow Sights?

What Are Bow Sights?

What are Bow Sights? A bow sight is a small instrument or sighting device that is mounted onto your bow and consists of a small ring with points or axes on it. The sight itself will attach to what is called the 鈥渞iser鈥?of the bow and its function is to aid in aiming the arrow. It functions like a bead would at the end of a rifle barrel. A bow sight essentially shows you where your arrow is pointing and where you鈥檒l strike your target. Shooting a bow is definitely possible without a sight however it is very difficult to gauge where that arrow will strike without the help of a sight. In fact, most if not all modern bows are sold with a sight due to this difficulty. A bow sight can also be helpful when shooting a target at a long range or at distance. Accuracy can be achieved with practice and through dialling-in your sight with your bow.

The controls are logical and fit the Elantra's no-nonsense demeanor. The stereo's on top and the HVAC controls are below (just two knobs and a few larger buttons), with the the four-speed automatic sprouting from the floor. The transmission lacks any manual shifting, but you've got only four forward gears anyway and there's a short-throw five-speed manual available for control freaks. We particularly like the Elantra Touring's large, legible gauges that frame the aforementioned VW-like information display, as well as the best Hyundai steering wheel we've yet to grip. The meaty rim filled our hands nicely and the redundant controls for the stereo and cruise control are all flush and contained within the wheel itself. We're also fans of Hyundai's new center stack display for the radio. The big blue screen is as easy to read as a children's book and displays the time and outside temperature when the radio is off. There's also a full complement of connectivity ports in the center armrest for your iPod or MP3 player, as well as a gutter for your cables so the lid can be closed without trapping the device inside.

As we've speculated for years, Jaguar-Land Rover has a new inline-6 engine, and on Tuesday the company announced it will first find a home in the Land Rover Range Rover Sport HST. Unlike the inline-4, the new inline-6 features a 48-volt electrical system that gathers energy during braking. It also has an electric supercharger that spools up to 65,000 rpm in just 0.5 seconds to virtually eliminate turbo lag. The electric supercharger then hands off to a twin-scroll turbocharger that is supported by continuously variable valve lift. The 48-volt electrical system also helps power the automatic stop/start system. The efficiencies and mild electrification help improve fuel economy over the previous supercharged V-6 engine by about 20 percent. In its first application, the inline-6 makes 395 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque in the Range Rover Sport HST special edition, which is 15 more hp than the previous 3.0-liter V-6 engine.

It is however the combination of having the ability to tackle tough terrain and driving something that is built to withstand it that is key. The Jeep Wrangler for example is the US Army's company car. Essentially, four big wheels, a seat and steering wheel, the only time this vehicle encounters a school is defending one in a war. It is arguably, the most robust, go-anywhere vehicle available to buy today, but is far too small and workmanlike for a mother of three. The aforementioned Cherokee and Grand Cherokee ranges however, give you Wrangler bullet-proof suspension and reliability whilst lapping air conditioning over you and your leather seats. OK so which Jeep is it to be? The Cherokee as mentioned earlier, is the entry level model, offering the usual refinements for a price that pits it against the likes of the Ford Focus and the Vauxhall Astra. In the jam packed world of the hatchback, the Cherokee offers a bit of individuality on the road, or outside the school gates. If you want to really impress however, the Grand Cherokee may be your choice. Ok, so at nearly 拢30,000 it's not initially the cheap Jeep I've been harping on about, but compare it to the rivals and you'll need a lie down. For your money you get everything you'd expect on the specification sheet (that's not me being vague, you really do even get the kitchen sink) and of course the big one - 4 wheel drive. Right sit down please, here's how the rivals stack up. A BMW X5 is 拢10,000 more, a similar specification Land Rover is 拢6,000 more and don't get me started on Mercedes or Audi.

A: We鈥檙e taught from an early age to use certain procedures and rules to analyze and solve problems, such as for math or chemistry. We鈥檙e asked, what鈥檚 the correct answer, right? There鈥檚 an emphasis on minimizing errors. These types of skills serve us extremely well, especially when we have enough information to put into a formula or plan. But what happens when we don鈥檛 even know what problems we鈥檙e trying to solve? It happens a lot. That鈥檚 the situation the U.S. Army has had to face when confronting Middle Eastern insurgents. In situations like these, engaging in discovery and making little bets is a way to complement more linear, procedural thinking. Q: What research did you do for this book and what did you set out to discover? A: I wanted to find out what went on behind the scenes of some of the great achievements and innovations we witness.
