The Discovery 3 was able to have a fresh, minimalist style. The interior was much improved, with a flexible seven seat layout. Unlike the older models, adults could comfortably use all seven seats. Passengers in the rearmost row now entered through the rear side doors, instead of the tailgate as in previous versions. The driver benefited from a modern DVD navigation system, including some optional features like Bluetooth telephony in later models. The system's navigation functions were unique to Land Rover because, in addition to the typical road map navigation, benefits included an off-road navigation and four-wheel drive information mode. The vehicle was very well received by the press on its launch, with the Terrain Response system, vastly improved on-road dynamics and clever interior design being selected for wide praise. The new look was disliked by some (descriptions such as 'van-like' were used), and the large, blank rear panel, now devoid of the spare wheel, was a controversial point.

I was still pretty young but a lot of memories here. What I mostly remember about the seventies were a lot of brown and orange. Thanks for the memories! I remember those days! I was a teen in the late 70's and I was probably more focussed on what was going on in my my immediate surroundings, and noticing girls of course. I know all those other things did happen though. I was a child of the 80's but this lens is GREAT! Thanks for the insight! What a comprehensive lens this is. Quite a resource for all that the 70s were about. Welcome to Totally Awesome Lenses Group. You did such a great job taking us back to the "good old days". I had so much fun reminiscing. You did a great job collecting all the data! Really great lens. This is my era. Great lens, great memories! I have lensrolled to my Blockbuster!

Potential uses range from looking up bios of a business contact before a meeting to a rally-style co-pilot feature that could alert the driver of the characteristics of upcoming turns. It's nothing too far-fetched given the current levels of technology, and we wouldn't be surprised to see some of it implemented in the near future. But more than the tech and the attention to detail, it's the Shinari's overall cohesion that impresses the most. Unlike other pie-in-the-sky concepts, the Sinari is a smart, well executed styling exercise that should be a solid design platform for future models. The muscular lines should translate well into a production car, and customers will always appreciate a more sophisticated interior. And what about the potential of a four-door sports coupe like the Shinari making it to production? Mazda wouldn't tell us whether one is in the works, but they did mention that the "business side of it" was considered when the Shinari was under development. That definitely means there's a chance, and we sure like the sound of a Mazda RX-9.
