Land Rover Defender (from 1948 To Present)
That gave way in turn, early in 1999, to the five-cylinder diesel from the Series II Discovery. Over the years, a wide variety of body-styles have been available; including short and long wheelbase cars (called 90 and 110) a pick-up, seven and twelve-seater wagons, a short-wheelbase soft-top and, most recently, a double cab pick-up. The majority of used vehicles on the market are likely to be either Series IIIs or the newer Defenders. Engine changes have been surprisingly few, given the age of the basic design, but there have been many updates and revisions. The combinations of engine and body-style are many and varied. Engines are as follows: 2.3, 2.6 and 3.5-litre petrol and 2.3-litre diesel, 2.5-litre turbodiesel and 2.5-litre Td5 turbodiesel. Rugged, agricultural looks that are becoming as chic in Soho as they are unremarkable and irrelevant on muddy trails the world over. These are basic machines, sometimes in the extreme, depending on the vehicle's age.
Your best bet is to have a model with the correct bends and be let loose at a wall of hoses to search through and try to match up. I never found a hose that was a match but I did find both of my hoses as part of longer hoses. I just cut off the parts of each hose that didn't fit the shape I was looking for and ended up with correct molded hoses. Car manufacturers generally use engines through a range of car models. There tend to be high performance versions and economy versions of most engines. You need to decide which version works best for you. Performance versions tend to provide lots of power at high revs at the cost of power at low revs. They tend to require premium grade petrol because of the high compression. This is very important if you are building a rig to make it through very loose soil/sand /mud where you need aggressive tyres and high RPMs to cut a path through the soil faster than you sink into it.
Door mirrors now have a 10 percent larger glass area and to really set off the fresh styling there are also new 18鈥?and 19鈥?alloy wheels. The choice of colours has changed for 2011 too, with the addition of Kosrae Green, Baltic Blue and Fuji White. In the cabin, there are four new contemporary seat styles offering a greater range of choice. A stylish cloth trim, covered with new Tofino or Resolve fabrics, Napoli leather, a combination of Napoli leather and Alcantara, and Windsor leather for the premium pack. These four new styles differentiate between trim levels. There鈥檚 a choice of manual, 6/4-way electric adjustment and 8/6-way electric adjustment for the Premium Pack seats. New colourways compliment the revised upholstery design with Ebony, Tan and Ivory and there are matching door casings in Ebony PVC with Ivory stitching and Ebony PVC with Tan contrast stitching. Four new fascia finishers come in either Element Silver, Element Black, Dark Chestnut and Piano Black lacquered finish. This lacquered black theme is also carried over onto the steering wheel switchpack.
The 聭ute comes standard with Land Rover's unique Terrain Response system, which optimizes vehicle settings to maximize traction in different weather conditions and on manifold surfaces like grass, gravel, mud, sand and more. Additionally, all LR2 models leave the factory with all-wheel-drive and a Gradient Release Control system, which improves driver confidence and control when releasing the brakes on steep and slippery slopes. These elements, along with 8.3 inches of ground clearance, make the LR2 perhaps the most off-road-ready small luxury crosover on the market, although it still can't quite match up to old-school SUVs like the Jeep Wrangler. When the time comes to leave the trails behind, the LR2 is plenty refined on the pavement, although customers seeking dynamic handling might be better served by another crossover. The LR2 is offered in base, HSE and HSE LUX trim levels. The HSE brings a rearview camera, Xenon headlights with LED running lights. The HSE LUX adds an upgraded 825-watt Meridian stero along with softer, more supple Windsor leather upholstery. Options include a DVD-based navigation system with a touch-screen display and a Climate Comfort package with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and heated windshield-washer jets. All LR2 models come equipped with dual front, side and full-length side curtain airbags along with a driver's knee airbag, traction and stability control systems, electronic brake-force distribution and emergency brake assist. The LR2 competes against a number of more powerful and fuel efficient small crossover rivals like the BMW X3, Acura RDX, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60. Ground Clearance: 8.3 in. Front Track: 63.0 in.
