Land Rover Discovery Parts & Accessories

Optional features were a third-row seat, a CD player, roof bars, front driving lights, alloy wheels, and a range of metallic paints. The next generation of Discoverys included 720 modifications from the Series I. The models looked less utilitarian from the inside out primarily due to the added body length to increase load space. These units run on an inline five-cylinder engine that could still provide the same off-road capability as the Defender. Cornering roll was reduced with the introduction of a hydraulic anti-roll bar system. The external configurations that were noticeable were the pocketed headlamps, rear turn and brake lamps, and the rest of the lights that were positioned above the window line. In this generation, a new body construction method was used in the units. Land Rover used what is called an Integrated Body Frame where the passenger compartment and engine bay were built as a monocoque, which was connected to the chassis.

In fact the trailer almost always has its full weight sitting on its wheels regardless of terrain and is most unlikely to loose traction. In comparison, a four wheel drive that happens to get supported on diagonally opposite wheels can loose traction, unless axle diff' locks are fitted, because one wheel on each axle is unweighted. For whatever reason, the powered trailer did not go into volume production. Cost may have been an issue because it is certainly complex. The Nokken is a Norwegian winch normally used in forestry, and manufactured by Hordaland Mek. Approximately 20% of the 101 vehicles, except ambulances, were fitted with these winches as far as I know. This winch is more versatile than others. The cable can be lead to the front or rear of the vehicle. With a cable length of 65 metres, it is twice as long as normally found on an electric drum winch. Winching speed is variable, depending on gearbox, transfer gear and throttle settings. Being a capstan winch, the cable load is constant, unlike an electric drum winch which is dependent upon how much cable is on the drum and upon the state of the battery. 1. A minimum of 5 wraps of cable on the take up drum should be maintained when winching. Mark the cable with paint or plastic tape so that it can be seen from the driver's seat. 3. This winch should not be used for lifting. Legal requirements apply in this situation. 4. Cable should be checked prior to load setting and any use. Replace it if there are any signs of damage, wear or corrosion. 5. The cable should be cleaned, checked and re-greased prior to load setting and any trip where winching may be required. 6. Use EP90 gear oil to lubricate winch moving parts.

The fixed design provides two separate sections and the largest ever glass area for a Land Rover roof, while the opening system provides a tilt-and-slide front section. Twin electric sunblinds provide shade and privacy when required. Elegant side fender vents incorporate a horizontal, blade-like treatment that flows into the 'V'-grooved feature line, another strong cue of the Discovery family. While the tailgate design has changed, an asymmetric licence plate recess provides a visual link to Discoverys of the past while Land Rover's innovative new Powered Inner Tailgate delivers enhanced functionality. The clever solution includes an additional fold-down panel inside the boot that fits snugly against the tailgate when shut. It can be used to retain luggage when the tailgate is opened, or folded down to provide event seating and easy access to the generous load area. New Land Rover Discovery is a tour de force of modern design and quality materials, as well as a laser-like focus on the application of advanced technologies.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL. I HAVE A 2005 LR3 LANDROVER THAT IS PERPETUALLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT BECAUSE OF THE STRUCTURAL DESIGN OF THE CAR. THIS DEFECT CAUSES MY TIRES TO WEAR EXCESSIVELY FAST AND HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE COMPLETELY BALD TIRES ON THE INNER HALVES OF ALL FOUR TIRES. ONCE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY WERE IN SUCH BAD SHAPE. THIS DECEMBER ANOTHER SET OF TIRES WAS BADLY WORN AND THE DEALERSHIP REALIGNED THE CAR MAKING IT MORE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS PROBLEM CAN VISUALLY BE SEEN BY LOOKING AT THE CAR. THE CAR WEARS THROUGH TIRES APPROXIMATELY EVERY 15,000 MILES. MY DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT FIX THE CAR. THERE IS GREAT POTENTIAL FOR INJURY DUE TO THE CAR NEVER STAYING IN ALIGNMENT AND THE EXCESSIVE WEAR OF THE TIRES. TL CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR3. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT.

Of course, acceleration is helped by the transmission. I'm sure you're sick of all the talk about ZF's excellent gearbox, but it bears repeating how good this particular calibration is, with snappier, well-timed downshifts and right-now upshifts. There's not much hunting between gears, either, which is part of what contributes to the Sport's potency when accelerating at speed. While manual mode is quite good - the immediacy of its shifts is complemented by the snappy action of the wheel-mounted paddles - I was totally content leaving the gearbox alone to make its own decisions. Despite all the good things I have to say about this engine's actual performance, there's another reason you should buy it over the V6: it sounds brutal. Remember what my dad said above? Hell, it's probably everyone's reaction the first time they hear the Sport at flank speed. This large, off-road-read SUV, which can ford 33 inches of water, sounds like a Jaguar XKR. That said, the Sport is not a sports car, and therefore, it should be rather quiet when just cruising along.
