Land Rover Discovery Parts & Accessories
It is not easy to find the perfect formula in making a car that does everything, but in 1989, Land Rover seemed to have found it. Specializing in four-wheel drives, Land Rover introduced the captivating Land Rover Discovery, a fusion of the Land Rover Defender and the Range Rover. Other automakers have manufactured cars made from fused models, but this jewel was different in that it was a four-by-four that could assault any condition it was subjected to鈥攁 real workhorse, in short. The Discovery has evolved through four generations as of 2012, and through these developments, it has remained a genuine lifestyle accessory that can be pitted against rocks and ravines. The first Discoverys to come out run on four-cylinder engines, which were not again used in the succeeding models. The pioneer units were first available as three-door models, but the five-door versions became available soon after due to the increasing customer favor. The units could squeeze 182 horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque out of their 4.0-liter V8 engine. Beige and light blue were the available interior colors, and the standard features offered were a keyless entry and cruise control and power accessories.
The Range Rover may be responsible for building the brand's identity, but the it's the LR2 that's designed to meet the growing demand for small- to mid-size crossovers on the market today. It's built with solid towing capability, good ground clearance and all-wheel drive, but it's also more at home on the streets than its badging might suggest. The LR2 is essentially the vehicle that's a little happier to play in the mud than the fashion-forward Range Rover Evoque, but not quite and off-road ready as the larger Land Rover LR4. That doesn't mean that you won't find it dancing through dirt roads from time to time-or even some moderately-difficult off-road trails-but it's more likely that you'll find it resting in a compact parking spot at the local grocery store. In balance, the LR2 sits more with the German luxury crossovers--the Q5, the GLK--than it does with Japanese hardware like the Acura RDX.
After review of several engines we think it鈥檚 wisest to change chains, crank gears, tensioners, and rails whenever this job is done. The factory has updated some of the oilers to make them more resistant to chain snags, and they should be changed too. You can change cam chains with the engine in the car, though it is a big job. Most labor guides estimate 20 hours, but if you have damage, cleanup will consume more time, and if you skip the cleanup, more damage may occur later. If the oil pump and injection pump chain needs to be replaced the engine will have to come out, and the pan come off. That is more of a 40-hour repair. We鈥檝e seen a few engines with skipped timing on the pump chains. That worries us because we can retime the chain in the car, but we can鈥檛 change the chain or tensioner without engine removal and teardown. It may be that鈥檚 what it comes to on these motors, though. This is a significant problem, one that will take up half a week to a full week鈥檚 labor, and several thousand dollars of parts. I wish I had a shortcut to offer you, but the shortcuts involve things like guide replacement without chain replacement, and I fear those fixes won鈥檛 prove sufficiently durable. The Ford Motor Company is an American multinational corporation based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Ford introduced methods for large-scale manufacturing of cars and large-scale management of an industrial workforce using elaborately engineered manufacturing sequences typified by moving assembly lines. 28,000 in cash from twelve investors, most notably John and Horace Dodge (who would later found their own car company). During the mid to late 1990s, Ford sold large numbers of vehicles, in a booming American economy with soaring stock market and low fuel prices. With the dawn of the new century, legacy healthcare costs, higher fuel prices, and a faltering economy led to falling market shares, declining sales, and sliding profit margins. Most of the corporate profits came from financing consumer automobile loans through Ford Motor Credit Company. In the latter half of 2005, Chairman Bill Ford asked newly-appointed Ford Americas Division President Mark Fields to develop a plan to return the company to profitability. Ford鈥檚 target is to become profitable again in 2009, a year later than projected. 15 billion in cash and debt acquisition. Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealers delivered 178,546 new vehicles in March.
