Land Rover LR4

Land Rover LR4

The Land Rover LR4 boasts 9.9 cubic feet of trunk space with all three rows of seats up, 42.1 cubic adults in five of the boat 90.3 cubic second and third rows folded flat. The Land Rover LR4鈥檚 fuel-thirsty V8 engine has been replaced by a more efficient 3.0-liter V6 unit which uses the supercharger to generate 340 horsepower and 331 lb-ft. Combined with a brand new eight speed automatic transmission designed by ZF, the LR4 5,655-pound can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds and reach top speed of 121 mph. The new spirit helps Land Rover LR4 return 14 mpg city and 19 on the highway premium fuel fire. As few consumers take their LR4 off the pavement, the standard case of a transfer unit single-speed offering 42-58 percent / front-rear torque split. A unit two-speed off-road driving is available as an option. A four-corner independent height-adjustable air suspension improves on-road ride and handling while retaining the well-known off-road ability of the SUV, and Response Land Rover system helps optimize the vehicle for a variety of situations.

So, with your Teflon coat on, what鈥檚 it like with the roof down? Roof stowed (with no consequence to the 251 litre boot, aside from the letter box you have to post luggage through to access it), the Evoque proves to be a decent drop-top, so far as buffeting goes. The windows stand tall above the beltline, so with the glass raised the cabin remains cocooned from all but the merest breeze. Drop the windows and sure, it鈥檚 draughtier, but even up to 60mph we鈥檙e talking a pleasant wind in the hair ruffle rather than a category five scalping. The hair boutiques of Soho will be devastated. You鈥檒l stay warm too. No heated steering wheel is a major faux pax, but the heater is, as usual for a Land Rover, so effective it鈥檚 a wonder the plastic vanes in the vents don鈥檛 melt. And the heated seats seem potent enough to liquefy your insides. Maybe don鈥檛 have a strong curry before a winter evening鈥檚 al fresco motoring.

Roger was born in 1947 in Lode Lane, Solihull at the local hospital - less than a mile from the factory where, at the exact same time, the idea for the first Land Rover was being conceived. After serving 15 years in engineering, and being closely involved in the development of the first Range Rover, Roger鈥檚 reputation as an off-road expert came to the fore in 1978 when he became head of the company鈥檚 vehicle demonstration team. The team went on to become Land Rover Experience which itself celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The brief was simple - to showcase the outstanding off-road capabilities of Land Rover vehicles to people of influence. Soon after he began working with media on press events, Roger took a role within the global PR team. His ability to cut to the heart of a new vehicle鈥檚 technology and communicate it in simple terms was invaluable as the brand expanded into new markets worldwide. Most recently, Roger has been Land Rover鈥檚 Heritage, Enthusiast and Technical PR Manager. Speaking of his long career, Roger said: 鈥淚 have worked on some great projects in product development, marketing and PR.
