Mazda Navajo: The Cheaper Twin
However, in spite of this, the vehicle still held the title of Motor Trend magazines Truck of the Year award for 1991. The Mazda Navajo has suffered from a poor fuel economy, a not so spectacular ride, and driving noise. However, these were overpowered by the advantages that the vehicle sported. The list includes an excellent acceleration, a spacious passenger and cargo room, 4WD traction, and anti-lock brakes. The Mazda Navajo also would be a better choice if compared with the Ford Explorer. After all, the parts are all the same. It is in the value for money that makes the difference between the two. CROSSOVER TO SOMETHING MORE ORIGINAL. If the bland, cookie-cutter styling of other Crossover SUVs doesn鈥檛 suite your taste, feast your eyes on the Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring. And savor a true original. With bold, athletic styling and a confident stance to ensure it doesn鈥檛 look like anything else. With real 7-passenger flexibility and a host of refined interior features to ensure it doesn鈥檛 feel like anything else. Plus the spirited road manners and confidence-inspiring handling of a Mazda. Which, of course, ensure that it doesn鈥檛 perform like anything else. So why are so many families suddenly crossing even more expensive Crossovers off their lists in favor of the CX-9? Simple. Originality has its rewards. THINK ABOUT A COCKPIT THAT鈥橲 PRETTY MUCH THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. Since the Mazda CX-9鈥檚 cockpit was inspired by world-class sports sedans, you鈥檒l find it exceptionally well-equipped. Which is why a 6-way adjustable driver鈥檚 seat is standard on every CX-9 Sport.
Ford is one of the most recognizable brands out there. Its Explorer SUV has evolved over the years and considerable change has shaped its trends. The expected 2011 Explorer is a fifth generation model and has promised to undergo radical changes compared to earlier generations. As a paradigm shift, Ford intends to bust myths about SUV performance and fuel economy. It is believed that fuel economy is the primary reason for the fact that people say no to SUVs. So Ford wants to combine the better fuel economy with the performance and capability expected from a SUV. In essence, the new Ford Explorer will shatter everyone's perceptions regarding the past experience with SUVs. The truck model is little bit lower and wider, with tucked-in body panels and short overhangs. As an improvement, the new Explorer will present itself with a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 250 lb-ft torque from 1,700 rpm with a projected 237 hp at 5,500 rpm. Now, the standard engine delivers 255 lb-ft and 290 hp and is a 3.5-liter V6.
Elsewhere in city car news, the Volkswagen e-up! This new, extended range version of the brand鈥檚 most junior electric car will be on the roads in 2020, serving as an entry-point to what will be an ever growing line-up of electric VWs. It鈥檚 not a member of the I.D family - those cars will all use the new MEB platform, while this is a development of the regular up! Equipped with a 32.3kWh battery, Volkswagen claims a maximum range of 162 miles on a single charge, while prices should start from around 拢23,000 before the 拢3,500 government grant. The e-up - and the new ID.3 - weren鈥檛 the only new electric Volkswagens at the show, however. We鈥檝e had our first glimpse at what comes next, and it鈥檚 an electric SUV set to take on the ID.4 name. Disguised and placed in a semi-transparent box in a covert corner of the Volkswagen stand, this production car will be closely informed by the ID. Crozz concept car, and hitting the roads in 2021 underpinned by the same MEB toolkit used on the new ID.3 hatchback. A battery 77kWh in size will unlock a range of well over 300 miles on a single charge. What is your pick from this year's Frankfurt Motor Show?
It鈥檚 something we鈥檝e seen other automakers face with their own modern takes on much-loved classics. Mercedes-Benz鈥檚 much-vaunted update of the G-Class, for example, was forced to tread a narrow line between the design and functionality of the beloved original SUV, yet also satisfy the requirements of luxury and performance that modern drivers expect. Land Rover鈥檚 challenge will be no less significant. What we do know - beyond these photos of the disguised new Defender - is that it will embrace the modern. Part of that appeal will involve new drivetrains, and there the Defender will be brought into the 21st Century. Back in 2017, Jaguar Land Rover announced that - from 2020 - every new model line it produced would be electrified in some way. That鈥檚 presumably going to include the Defender, too. Now, that doesn鈥檛 mean that the new truck will be an all-electric SUV like the Jaguar I-PACE. The automaker has left itself some flexibility when it comes to how that electrification is implemented, ranging from pure EV at one end, through plug-in hybrids, to mild hybrids at the other extreme. Exactly which it will use will depend on the core model itself, how it鈥檚 expected to be driven, and what advantages electrification will actually bring. If we were to guess, then, we might expect to see a mild hybrid or a plug-in hybrid Defender join the range. The current Discovery P400e Hybrid, as an example, combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, for a total of 398 horsepower and up to 31 miles of EV-only range. The automaker uses the same technology in the 2019 Range Rover P400e, too. The full reveal of the all-new Defender will take place sometime in 2019, the automaker promise.
