Range Rover Launch Evoque With Help Of Victoria Beckham.(News)

The vehicle was first unveiled in 2008 as Land Rover concept car the LRX, and was widely hailed as the greenest and most fuel-efficient Land Rover ever produced. But the vehicle will be sold under the Range Rover brand - the first Range Rover to be built at Halewood. The plant has built Ford Escorts and Jaguar X-Types and today builds the Land Rover Freelander 2, and components for many other JLR vehicles. Mrs Beckham will be working on a number of special edition Range Rover projects, including a special edition Evoque. Range Rover's design director Gerry McGovern called Beckham 'a talented British fashion designer' who is 'extremely knowledgeable about great design and trends'. The former Spice Girl said: 'I'm incredibly excited to be collaborating with Range Rover. The Halewood site's plant convenor Ken Smith, of the Unite union, was among those at the London event. He said: 'This new vehicle is a great step forward for us all. These new jobs are what we have been waiting for. Speke is one of the most deprived wards in the country. It's brilliant for everybody concerned that the plant is committed to build this vehicle. Land Rover MD Mr Popham, who is visiting the Halewood plant today to unveil the new brand to JLR's staff, told the Daily Post the site had a reputation for 'excellence and quality'. He said: 'Halewood has proved itself as a quality manufacturing facility.

British Army "Wolves" are usually 110-inch High Capacity Pick Ups or Hard Tops, and are used for patrol, communications and supply duties. 90XDs are less common, but are generally ordered as Soft Top or Hard Top vehicles for light liaison and communications. Land Rover always offered its military Defenders with the 300Tdi engine rather than the more powerful but more complicated Td5 engine offered in civilian vehicles. Before the 300Tdi engine was introduced, military Land Rovers were offered with 2.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, as well as the 3.5-litre V8 petrol. Although trials with the Td5 engine proved it to be reliable in battlefield conditions, it was decided that servicing and repairing its electronic control systems should they fail was too complicated and reliant on having diagnostic computers available. Land Rover were also unable to guarantee they could make the Td5 resistance to electro-magnetic interference. The British Army's Land Rovers have been the subject of much criticism following recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The majority of British Service Land Rovers carry no armour-plating and even the composite armoured SNATCH landrover is not immume to the larger roadside bomb and rocket attacks.

We wish to focus here on the assumption behind the derogation, namely that employee representatives are in a position to enter into what is, in effect, concession bargaining over transfer rights in an effort to preserve jobs. In the final outcome, the law favoured Phoenix in large part because its programme of restructuring involved far fewer job losses. The difficulties posed by Article 4a are intensified further if consideration is given to the potential role of employee representatives in non-union workplaces. In this respect, the example of the Working Time Regulations, which make it possible for statutory labour standards to be negotiated away in non-union workforce agreements, is not reassuring. If there is to be bargaining under the shadow of employment rights, measures need to be taken to ensure the effectiveness of independent employee representation. We were interested to see what Land Rover would do with its 2011 LR2 update, not because of its looks or its power, but simply because of the naming conventions it has been working with. When the 2009 LR3 was updated (called Discovery 3 overseas) it became the 2010 LR4, based on its move to the Discovery 4 name in Europe. Based on that, would the LR2 (Freelander 2) become the LR3, taking its big brother鈥檚 old name? Alas, it has not. However, it鈥檚 still going to be known as the Freelander 2 elsewhere, as the company didn鈥檛 deem the changes major enough for a badge update. Perhaps the company just wanted to put off the US-market naming mess until a few more years from now. Inside, we鈥檙e disappointed to see the updates aren鈥檛 as extensive as they were with the other three vehicles updated for the 2010 model year. The overall design and layout is still a bit disappointing, though new color combinations, new gauges, and new trim options will be available. A new premium pack adds soft Windsor leather, power seats, and premium mats. While Europeans will benefit from a new four-cylinder diesel, US customers will carry on having no choice but a Volvo-sourced 3.2-liter inline six. While power goes unchanged at 230 hp and 234 lb-ft of torque, the engine has been revised for cleaner operation to comply with stricter EU 5 emissions standards. Pricing and on-sale date have yet to be announced.

I forced a regen and this completed successfully in just a few minutes - this can take up to an hour if the DPF is actually blocked. This led me to searching the internet and discovering the timing chain issue, plus buying an OBD interface and getting Forscan (Ford/Mazda diagnostic software). I then checked the timing chain stretch (using Forscan) and it reported back 10.63 degrees, just above the threshold for the timing chain warning, along with error code P1336. They carried out the replacement and I collected the car (last Thursday). On starting the car the DPF light was no longer flashing. I pulled out onto the main road and immediately noticed that the acceleration wasn't right at all. At that point I should probably have turned round and returned to the dealer, but I needed to get to work and thought it might need to recalibrate or something like that. I drove carefully to work.
