Plug-in hybrid technology will also appear for the first time on the new F-Pace, combining a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor. Both versions will then be available with a choice of three option packs, badged S, SE and HSE.
Took the covers off of the roof today, in preparation for starting work. Like the rest of the Land Rover, it's battered and bruised but still in surprisingly good shape overall. Below, the roof top in its faded gold paint, after a light rub down. Paint is chipping here and there, but nothing too serious. The holes in the center stiffener are from where a yellow flashing light was previously mounted (as told by the previous owner). There are very few dents, one being on the left above the door, the other being a long-ish one at lower left, where it looks as if someone dropped a heavy chain onto the Birmabright. The window seals are in pretty bad shape. I'm hoping they may sand down to a good finish, as other rubber parts have, but I have the feeling these will end up replaced as they are very cracked and are even missing small bits here and there. The interior is in great shape. I'm hoping it will clean up nicely, as I'd like to keep the original paint. The only repair needed in there is two rivets missing at the top of the right-hand 'cat flap' hinge bracket. The insulation that will be hidden under the headliner. It had been coming off, but has now been re-glued. It will stay, but I may spray it with something in order to keep it from shedding quantities of particles when disturbed. The 'cat flap', sporting what will be its new door handle when finally affixed. Some surface rust on the steel frame, needs a new window seal, and the fastening rods need straightening, but otherwise in good shape. Once those are taken care of, it will regain its original Limestone colour, as will the roof.
Former Toyota Racing Development executive Nelson Cosgrove has been named Mazda鈥檚 new motorsports director, succeeding John Doonan. Cosgrove had served as TRD鈥檚 vice president of Engineering and Vehicle Development prior to previous stints with various NASCAR teams. 鈥淚鈥檓 honored and excited to start this new role with Mazda,鈥?said Cosgrove. 鈥淢azda has a storied history in motorsports and a strong presence with IMSA, MX-5 Cup and grassroots programs. Cosgrove will report to Masahiro Moro, Chairman and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. 鈥淲e are committed to continuing to build upon Mazda鈥檚 position in North American motorsports,鈥?said Moro. As revealed by Sportscar365 earlier on Monday, Mazda鈥檚 factory DPi program is set to see the exit of Joest Racing following the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring after the German team鈥檚 contract was not renewed. The Japanese manufacturer has yet to officially comment on the matter. Should you decide you need to tow a boat or perhaps a horse trailer, you鈥檒l find the Range Rover diesel鈥檚 tow rating up to the task with a 7,716-pound maximum trailer rating. One aspect of the Range Rover that can鈥檛 be hidden is its tall, narrow nature. Unlike competitors such as the Navigator or Escalade, which are wider and based on pickup underpinnings, the Range Rover is a dedicated SUV unibody. The tall seating position means that handling is a bit numb and body motions feel tippy around corners, but you鈥檙e not likely to drive this thing like a sports car anyway. It has plenty of confidence and stability as long as you don鈥檛 ask more of it than calm SUV duties demand. While the Range Rover has one of the most advanced electronic off-road systems in the world, like most owners of these super-expensive all-terrain SUVs, I never did take it on anything more challenging than a gravel driveway.
