Cox commented: 鈥淚鈥檓 very happy with the result, I鈥檝e been waiting 12 years for today! We had a great battle on day one and then it was a case of maintaining reliability and staying on the road while other drivers were having problems. The course was brilliant, it鈥檚 the best in the country in my opinion. Moran finished fourth after being forced to stop with a broken propshaft on his AT 4x4 Indy Challenger. Richard Green took his new Tomcat to fifth ahead of Mark Jacques, who was giving a BCCC debut to his 3M Challenger. Ryan Cooke was 9th in his Milner LRM-1, a fastest run time on day one offset by an off on the final run. Former BRC driver Jason Sharpe gave the Isuzu UK-supported D-Max pick up its debut and claimed 10th place. Alan Thomas won the Trophy class in his Warrior Gemini while Ben Gott took the Race2Recovery Freelander to victory in the Freelander Challenge category ahead of Ian Linford who finished second on his first event.
This image of the flight model of NASA's Mars Helicopter was taken on Feb. 14, 2019, in a cleanroom at JPL. The aluminum base plate, side posts and crossbeam around the helicopter protect its landing legs and the attachment points that will hold it to the belly of the Mars 2020 rover. MiMi Aung, project manager for the Mars Helicopter at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. Video Caption: The laws of physics may say it's near impossible to fly on Mars, but actually flying a heavier-than-air vehicle on the Red Planet is much harder than that. NASA鈥檚 Mars 2020 mission will deliver a technology demonstration that will put the idea to the test -- a helicopter that will perform controlled flight on Mars. 鈥淚n 2021, the small, autonomous helicopter will be the first vehicle in history to attempt to establish the viability of heavier-than-air vehicles flying on another planet,鈥?says NASA. The Mars Helicopter weighs 4-pound (1.8-kilogram) and will be attached to the belly of the Mars 2020 rover during launch and interplanetary cruise before deploying it onto the surface of Mars after landing.
The wing is formed by a thin aluminum band that starts from the bottom of the grille and goes out and up through the headlamps and continues with a bold fender line moving out onto the sides. The most impressive aspect of the exterior design was the devotion to the theme in nearly every inch of the concept. The various aluminum pieces found on the exterior have a "twisted tension", and even the slots in the disc brakes follow the same theme. In addition, items like the headlights were designed to have a more natural look and fashioned to mimic the iris of an animal's eye. We're also big fans of the stylish rear view cameras in place of the standard mirrors as well as the trick door handles (although "button" might be a more appropriate description) that require only a simple press to open. While the exterior is certainly a departure from previous designs, the interior is perhaps the most surprising aspect of the Shinari. Easily the most attractive and stylish interior we've seen in a Mazda (concept or not), it's swathed in authentic aluminum trim, leather-covered surfaces and double stitching at nearly every turn and twist.
