JLR Mobility Door Prototype
Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled a prototype door which can automatically open as the driver approaches or be operated by gesture control. Dubbed the mobility door prototype, Jaguar Land Rover鈥檚 new technology combines motion sensors with existing keyless entry technology to detect a driver walking towards the vehicle before automatically opening the door. The British car manufacturer says the technology will prove especially important for disabled people that use a car as their main form of transport. Additionally, it will be useful for people carrying large items as the driver that don鈥檛 have a free hand to open the door. Much like a Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Land Rover鈥檚 mobility door prototype can be closed from the inside with the press of an overhead button. To ensure doors don鈥檛 randomly open into the path of obstacles, such as lamp posts, radar sensors have been fitted. Users can also configure the door to close and lock as they walk away. Of course, automatic opening doors like this aren鈥檛 a new technology. For example, Tesla owners have been enjoying similar technology for quite some time. Nevertheless, former Royal Marine Commando and triple amputee Mark Ormrod, says the technology will be very handy for people with disabilities. Jaguar Land Rover hasn鈥檛 said when it will introduce the technology to its production vehicles.
The great British farm truck has seen a monumental change, featuring a new design outside and underneath, different engines, transmissions, and technology. We鈥檝e found every single spec and detail for you to ingest. Land Rover has lifted the sheet on its all-new Defender and we鈥檝e compiled every single spec and detail, available in the table below. Not one component has carried across into the new model, which eschews the old steel ladder-frame for the D7x aluminium monocoque chassis underneath. Carrying over in spirit are the 90 and 110 variants, with the 130 likely to arrive in 2021. While both 90 and 110 were previously named for the wheelbase length in inches, the new pair have both grown. Defender 90 has three doors and measures 4323mm long with a short 2587mm wheelbase. It seats five or six with a front-row jump seat. Defender 110 has five doors and measures 4758mm long with a 3022mm wheelbase.
We headed to my workplace in Zhuzhou in a big luxury car. I started working in Hunan University of technology with same dedication and commitment. Life became a routine. Meeting my brother (Jack) now and then is still the most fascinating thing however. I wagered I鈥檇 leave in a year or two. I was wrong. Working in Hunan province, didn鈥檛 only brought me a brother but also brought me prosperity. I bought my own car and became the first ever foreigner to register a car on my own name. It was a small Chevy Spark and I loved it. It was my brother Jack who treated me a big dinner just to celebrate this little happy event. It was him who drove me for hours with another sincere friend (Joanna another sincere friend Hunan Province sent my way) around different Car Showrooms in Zhuzhou and Changsha city. He was always by my side, talking to people, giving me suggestions, and pushing me with a smile to sit in all the different cars.
That is currently the only way to experience the C-1 platform in the US. The C-Plus will be expanded into Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles over the next few years. The Mazda 3 and Volvo S-40/V-50 have recieved praise for their new chassis and are selling well in their respective market segment. Ford's own press releases for the Fusion, speak of how important that car is, saying that they loose 10,000 Focus buyers to foreign competitors because they don't have the propper Mid-size car for them to move up to. While this may be true, I wonder how many people are not buying the Focus because it has become stale? The Mazda 3 is selling well and is not upmarket from a Focus, how can Ford sell this at a profit and not a new Focus? I'm not buying the excuse any longer. Ford doesn't seem to be trying in some of their segments. I've talked before about how they have abandoned the Ranger and it's lucrative compact/mid-size market. They let the Taurus become so bland and unappealing to the point that they needed two replacements for it and had to retire the name.
