Land Rover Discovery (2019)
A comprehensive suite of driver assistance features and towing and safety technologies provides outstanding customer convenience and peace of mind. A full programme of virtual testing procedures was completed before a physical prototype was even created. These virtual tests included extreme events such as sand dune impacts as well as conventional load bearing and stability analysis for towing or roof rack systems. Once complete, Land Rover's engineers set about completing more than 35,000 individual tests across all components and systems using physical prototypes. This comprehensive programme involved taking New Discovery to the most unforgiving locations on earth, from the extreme heat and dust of the Middle East to the plummeting temperatures of the Arctic Circle. This punishing test and development schedule ensures New Discovery has the durability and capability to meet the requirements of the most demanding customers. New Discovery is packed with innovative technology that provides more convenience, practicality and greater versatility than ever before.
THE SECOND TIME JUST NOW IN APRIL I GOT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, ABS WARNING, SUSPENSION FAILURE. DEALER TOLD ME THAT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH LR3 AND NOTHING TO WORRY, IT JUST WAS ELECTRONIC AND NEEDED AGAIN ANOTHER COMPUTER UPDATE. BUT HOW CAN I KNOW IT IS STILL SAFE? I ALSO HAVE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH WINDOW SWITCHES AND STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED CONTROLS WHO GO TOTALLY CRAZY. ALL FOUR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE WEARING AND CUPPING ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WORN TO THE WEAR BARS, WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IF THIS WAS NOT PERSONALLY NOTICED, A FAILURE OF A TIRE COULD HAVE LEAD TO A ROLL OVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER WITH MYSELF PAYING FOR THEM, AND TO PAY FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE WHEELS ARE ALWAYS IN A NEGATIVE CAMBER, BY DESIGN, WHICH CAUSES THE TIRES TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, WHILE IN FOR SERVICE I LOOKED AT OTHER VEHICLES IN FOR SERVICE, AND THEY ALL HAD TIRE WEAR ON THE INSIDE.
鈥淭he overall look is new and contemporary. Unlike the Discovery and the Defender, the LR2 has plenty of forward momentum available thanks to an all-new 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine making 230 horsepower and 234 pound-feet of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The new engine design allows for 80 percent of maximum torque from idle to the 6,500 rpm redline giving the truck a sense of urgency in all situations. Land Rover says the LR2 can move from 0 to 60 in 8.4 seconds, a considerable feat considering the vehicle's 4,255 pound curb weight. And this small Land Rover actually has some decent gas mileage ratings 鈥?16-city and 23-highway 鈥?considering that this is a heavyweight SUV and the mpg ratings are based on the more stringent 2008 standards. On the road, the LR2 drives more like a front-wheel drive sedan than a high-riding SUV staying composed in tight cornering and exhibiting a very good on-center feel.

It was a 'facebook' entry and mentioned in the tabloid press. The Queen was in fact at Windsor horse trials that day. Nothing though from a Palace spokesman. Really Ian, I never saw that! I will have to look it up. Always good to 'see' you. The Queen is 'alive and well' contrary to a recent hoax which tricked many. I missed that Ian! I did see it at Marlow a couple of years ago though. The Royal barge 'GLORIANA' docked at Henley on Thames during the weekend. It would not dare rain on H.M's garden party today !
The engine choice for the LR2 is another Achilles heel. Competitors like the 2015 BMW X3 provide high-performance engine options that are also more efficient than the LR2鈥檚 only powerplant. The LR2 gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. Land Rover pairs this engine with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission in each of the LR2 trim levels. The result is a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The LR2鈥檚 EPA ratings are 17/24 mpg city/highway. Standard technology for the LR2 includes rear parking sensors, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth for hands-free calling, a USB port and an 11-speaker Meridian sound system with 380 watts of power. A rearview camera comes standard in the HSE and HSE Lux models. All trim levels are also available with a navigation system, satellite radio, HD Radio and an 825-watt Meridian audio system that鈥檚 backed by 17 speakers.
