The 10 Best Diesel SUVs In 2019
Diesel vehicles are once again seeing a huge surge in popularity around the world. In the United States diesel fuel is more expensive than gasoline, but diesel engines burn cleaner and are considerably more fuel efficient than their petrol counterparts. Fuel prices vary wildly from year-to-year, so a diesel SUV is a smart long-term choice for energy or fuel conscious buyers. Jeep has always made rugged off-road vehicles, and the 2016 Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel is no exception. The 2016 Grand Cherokee has taken design cues from Land Rover, creating a great looking SUV with hints of luxury that can tackle the world鈥檚 back-roads with ease. While a rear-wheel drive model is offered with every engine option, the real treat here is Jeep鈥檚 4WD system which can tackle terrain as well as any other consumer off-road SUV on the market. Don鈥檛 let its soft look fool you; the 2016 Grand Cherokee is meant to be an off-road contender.
Every edge is perfectly smooth; there are no mold-seam residues; there are not hollow-backs. The materials are all of very good quality, and accompanied by very nice and soft leather. Melissa and I feel this is how all interiors should feel - but alas, you have to pay up to get this level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. To exemplify how simple things about this interior made it great, let鈥檚 focus on the air vents. Air vents seem like such a simple part of the dash - they have three or four parts all made of plastic, and they should be quite cheap to build. However amid all the other details in the interior, it is air vents that often seem to be the part that gets hacked with the cost-cutting axe. I never understood this philosophy as air vents are among those parts of the car that you touch - constantly - and so along with great feeling buttons, they can make or break the feel of a car. In the case of the LR2, they made it.
When my mom and dad knew that they were to be sent to work as missionaries in South Korea in the mid 1950's, the first thing they did was go to school. They studied Korean language, history and church growth classes. For two years before they even set foot on Korean soil, they were immersed in the preparations of a lifetime of service to the church in Korea. It was exciting and dangerous and challenging for them to arrive with two little children (I wasn't born yet), to adjust to that war-torn land. I learned to love some of the food and parts of the culture, but every time we'd see an American TV show on the US military channel, I would long for that far distant country that was supposedly my own. The Korean toys and dolls of 1968 were so poor and uninteresting, and the clothes were so odd when I compared them to the Sears catalog my grandmother would send us every six months. My siblings and I would dream of chocolate ice cream, American hamburgers, real pizza with real cheese, everything American. In the process, I began to resent the fact that I was stuck in a third world country while my cousins got to have what I thought, was the best of everything.
