What A Stupid Thing To Do!

What A Stupid Thing To Do!

Now markets like China have emerged, which, amazingly, recognise the heritage and the brands. We are looking at increasing our footprint in China substantially by way of a joint venture. And India has emerged as an interesting potential market. In fact, what we have for our plans in the UK, when we took the company there were lots of rumours about closing down one plant and operating two. Now we are operating three plants full blast, we have added 1,000 people and we are looking at creating the fourth plant in Staffordshire, an advanced engine plant. Reports have linked JLR with establishing a new base in Brazil to assemble Freelander 4x4s, as a first step towards full local production of cars in South America's largest economy. However, Mr Tata said the Chinese plant was the only one currently on the table. Another alternative would be to outsource sub-assembly, rather than just components, which would also increase capacity.

For those who live in an area where dense urban traffic is a fact of life, there鈥檚 no getting around the length and breadth of the Infiniti QX80鈥檚 massive platform. You鈥檒l need to stay on your toes and make sure the blind spots on either side of the truck haven鈥檛 swallowed a Miata or two. More to the point, narrow streets and tight parking lots are a definite issue in this SUV, and you simply won鈥檛 fit in the majority of underground parking garages. These limitations are endemic to all full-size, truck-based people movers, which is in part why crossovers have risen in prominence with family shoppers. It鈥檚 hard to beat the 2015 Infiniti QX80鈥檚 blending of price and interior elegance as compared to other traditional luxury sport-utilities. The QX80鈥檚 cabin is a sight to behold, and its bountiful leather and wood don鈥檛 compromise whatsoever on the practicality of its big box shape. If your towing or hauling agenda doesn鈥檛 require such a hefty, gilded mule, then you might want to take a trip over to crossover country and sample something equally comfortable, yet more pliable for your day-to-day. Powerful standard V-8 engine. Strong suite of standard features. Less extroverted exterior styling compared to the previous year鈥檚 model. Abysmal real world fuel mileage. Third row of seating is cramped. Can be a challenge to maneuver in city driving situations. Fuel mileage is horrendous when driving in urban traffic.

A big boot is the practicality highlight, plus cabin ergonomics and storage are typically impressive - and feedback on the sat-nav is inside the top 10 in the infotainment category. Fuel economy seems to be rated acceptably, but owners clearly have a distaste for BMW service costs. Has it ever gone wrong? Out of the drivers who told us of faults, many reported electrical issues and suspension woes. It鈥檚 based on VW Group technology and shares its platform with the Volkswagen Golf, but the Leon鈥檚 used appeal has been boosted by sportier suspension settings and more affordable pricing. Owners admire its road manners above all, awarding great scores for steering, brakes and handling - and as a result for driving pleasure, too. Drivers also rate the user-friendly cabin layout. Interior and comfort scores are let down a little by the quality of fit and finish, but owners can鈥檛 fault the running costs, with economy and servicing both ranking strongly. Has it ever gone wrong? Electrical issues were common among the quarter of owners who highlighted faults with their Leon. 鈥淎 nice, nimble ride.

This trail was led on Saturday by Chuck Powell. Since Chuck has two young girls of his own and does family friendly trails, we chose to go with him. We ended up having nine kids under the age of ten and six dogs. T-shirt for the girls. The trail was easy, but had more than 20 water crossings. Water crossing are rare and well appreciated in southern Arizona. We were joined on the trail by four Discovery's, a Freelander, an LR3, an LR2 and Chevy Blazer masquerading as a Range Rover. The owner of the Blazer had posted a picture of his Range Rover on the back window with the note, 鈥淚n the Shop.鈥?We were glad to have him on our trail. Lunch was served after one of the longer crossings, next to a beautiful slot side canyon. The kids all disappeared up the canyon, and we had to climb it to go find them.
