Future Planetary Exploration

A Saturn or Titan orbiter could enable a mission that could last years, but comes with a substantial cost (but could also do considerable science). Either the Chopper comet lander mission or InSight could have flown at a number of launch opportunities (although a different comet likely would have to be selected for Chopper). NASA's managers stated in the press conference that all three candidate missions had equivalent science, but InSight provided the lowest technical and budgetary risk. That's not surprising since the instruments are mature and the lander itself is a near copy of the successful Mars Phoenix lander. With the selection of InSight, NASA will need to seek another mission to flight test its new Advanced Stirling Radioisotope Generator (ASRG) that represents its next generation technology to power spacecraft with plutonium. NASA has announced that ASRG's will be available for the next round of New Frontiers mission selection.

The final details of the plans are not due to be announced until the autumn, well after the country has gone to the polls for the general election. The Conservatives and health campaigners said the public deserved to know the true extent of cuts at their local surgeries and hospitals before voting. Last year all English health authorities were ordered by Sir David Nicholson, the NHS chief executive, to reconsider their plans after the recession forced the Government to freeze health spending from April next year. This left a ''black hole鈥欌€?of up to 拢20 billion in health budgets up to 2014, prompting the drawing up of new proposals by the 10 strategic health authorities (SHAs). They had until Friday to submit their plans to Andy Burnham, the Health Secretary. He is under pressure from the Treasury to show how money will be saved to help bring down Britain鈥檚 record 拢167 billion deficit. In Wednesday鈥檚 Budget, Alistair Darling, the Chancellor, repeated that the 拢20 billion would come through 鈥渆fficiency savings鈥?and not key services. Documents produced by several of the SHAs show how the cuts are, in fact, expected to fall on hospital services.

The eventual phase-out of Federal funding for the International Space Station (ISS) by 2025 was expected. 900 million over the next five years for such a commercial transition. For the return of Americans to the Moon, the budget proposes that a 鈥渒ey power and propulsion space tug鈥?be commercially launched by 2022, as a major part of NASA's Lunar Orbital Platform - Gateway. The proposed budget also includes a new lunar robotic exploration program and an Exploration Research and Technology program to increase technological knowledge needed to sustain human habitation of the Moon and beyond. 150 million for planetary defense against wayward asteroids. Other planetary missions included in the budget are the Mars 2020 Rover mission and 鈥淓uropa Clipper,鈥?which will investigate Jupiter's icy moon, Europa, which has a large sea below the ice that could include some forms of life. As with most Presidential proposed budgets, this proposal will undoubtedly be modified by the U.S. Congress before being formally enacted. Already, some members of Congress are condemning the proposed budget cuts to NASA programs. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL), ranking member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, said in a statement, 鈥淭he administration鈥檚 budget for NASA is a nonstarter. The braking system has innovative dual-circuit hydraulics with all-round disc brakes. The two-door body features Land Rover鈥檚 trademark aluminium panels on a steel frame and embodies Rover鈥檚 latest safety technology including seat belts integrated with the folding front seats. The trim reflects the vehicle鈥檚 utility roots with its easily cleaned PVC coverings. The Range Rover is awarded a gold medal for its coachwork, while its safety features are recognised by being awarded of the Don safety trophy. In a bumper year for Land Rover, the 750 000th Land Rover is produced, the Range Rover receives the RAC Dewar award for outstanding technical achievement, a great car-journey begins in Alaska, and the Land Rover Series III is launched. The Series III features an all-synchromesh gearbox and more powerful brakes with the long-wheelbase, with the 109 inch versions receiving servo assistance. The interior is updated with a revised instrument pack placed in front of the driver, and a new top roll to the facia. Externally, the Series III introduces a new front-end treatment with a revised lighting layout in a styled fender-front recess, which is complemented by a new plastic radiator grille.

Competency-based interviews are based around the candidate鈥檚 previous experiences. When answering the questions, JLR recommends setting the scene before describing what you did, how you went about it and what the outcome was. It also encourages you to talk about how you solved the problem or improved the situation and what you learned as a result. The competencies tested are likely to be linked to the company's customer first principles, which JLR describes as its business behaviours. You can find out more about these behaviours and values on JLR鈥檚 website. When answering your interview questions, think about how you can highlight where you've acted in sync with any of these principles or values. The following give a feel for questions that previous candidates have been asked and how you could approach them. However, don't assume that you'll be asked the same thing this year. Past question: Why do you want to work for Jaguar Land Rover?
