2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport SE, HSE And HSE Luxury Trims

2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport SE, HSE And HSE Luxury Trims

It looks classy and streamlined. It comes in 2 rows of seats and the third row is optional. Owing to sliding 2nd row, passengers will not grudge about leg room. With 2 rows of seats- available cargo space is 39.7 cubic feet. With these numbers, the new model comes with better cargo space than larger BMW X3 and Audi Q5 rivals. The interior is very lavish and offers comfortable seats with 8-way-power for the front row and leather cloth combination on SE trim. However, the higher trims will be available with all leather heated seats. The cabin is beautiful especially because there is a big 8-inch touchscreen with the great infotainment system. Also, like the exterior and interior will have many color options. The new 2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport is laden with plenty of safety features and amenities to cope with segment rivals. You get plenty of packages for enhanced customization as well. The Land Rover InControl Touch infotainment setup is sleek and a breeze to use. You also get InControl Touch Pro in top trim. The Land Rover InControl Apps are available and they add to ease of usage. The speed and accuracy of controls are amazing.

Suspension for both the Defender 110 and Defender 90 are handled by SLA (short-long arms, otherwise known as unequal-length double wishbones) on the front and multi-links at the rear. These are mated to either coil springs or electronic air suspension, the latter responding to conditions at up to 500 times per second. The air suspension setup raises the Defender by 75 mm in off-road mode, along with an additional 70 mm of lift for a total of 145 mm when required. Conversely, the Defender also has what鈥檚 called Elegant Arrival, which lowers the vehicle by 50 mm to make for easier boarding and egress. The setup has a maximum suspension articulation of 500 mm, while the Defender is also rated for 45-degree side slopes. Terrain Response 2 now features six modes in the 2020 Defender - Normal, Mud and Ruts, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Sand, Rock Crawl and the latest addition, Wade. This adds to the Defender鈥檚 aforementioned water-wading capability of up to 900 mm with a setting that automatically softens throttle response, sets HVAC to recirculated air, raises ride height to the off-road setting and locks the driveline.

This is no ordinary midlife update. The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport is a super-competent seven-seater in a hotly contested luxury medium-SUV segment. It鈥檚 technically an update to the model that came out in 2015, one which this author actually bought and owned for some time. When car manufacturers usually update their vehicles in the middle of their typical 7-8-year life cycle, they tend to give it a minor facelift and stick on some new bits and make some options that should鈥檝e always been standard, standard. With this new Discovery Sport, that is definitely the case, but someone forgot to tell Land Rover to stop there, because about 70 per cent of all the parts in this 2020 model are new. That鈥檚 usually not what we would call a midlife update, but an all-new car. In many ways, then, this is an all-new model from the British brand, but its design similarities to the outgoing Discovery Sport might fool many into thinking otherwise. The new Discovery Sport has had every body panel except the bonnet, roof and tailgate replaced. It now sits on top of the brand鈥檚 new C-SUV architecture that it shares with the new Range Rover Evoque.

Land Rovers are the least reliable vehicles ever created. They are over- engineered and cost a fortune to fix. Avoid them at all costs unless you hate money. I agree with Matthew. Horrible vehicles. They can be horribly unreliable, cost a fortune to fix and it is tough to find independent mechanics who are even willing to work on them. My experience has been mixed. On pre 2003 Range Rovers reliablity was bad. With newer vehicles it has significantly improved. I own a 2008 Range Rover full size supercharged. It is a very fun vehicle to drive, confortable and even though I have had some mechanical failures, they are not more than I have experienced on other vehicles I have owned, included a Toyota Sequoia. 380 parts and labor). Other than that it has been the regular oil changes, brake, pads and rotors, etc. Even though I live in a fairly remote area with not many Land Rover options I have been for the most part trouble free.
