2019 Land Rover LR2
The surround system sounds good, but it has its limit when you push it to the max. To create the surround effect, this sound system adds a rather large speaker located in the center of the dashboard (right above the navigation screen). For those of you that consider the LR2 as an off-roader, you will be pleased to know that Land Rover did not forget its root and equipped the LR2 with what they call a 鈥楾errain response system鈥?knob. This knob elegantly replaces the old school levers for differential lock and short ratio gearbox (not present on the LR2). Simply turn the knob to indicate the surface you are driving on and the electronics will do all the work (mostly through stability control programs). The LR2 is powered by a 3.2 liter inline 6 cylinder engine. This engine is upgraded for off-road use, to resist mud, dust, and water. The new transversely mounted engine makes 230 horsepower, and 234 lb feet of torque. This is a big improvement from the Freelander鈥檚 174 horsepower, but the 4200 lbs LR2 will not take off at a green light.
Land Rover manual gearboxes will not hold up to American V8s so you will need to engineer a drive train. 10 spline rear axles will not hold up and you may find yourself dealing with leaf spring windup in the suspension. Do your homework on engineering the drive train and you can have a reliable trouble free conversion. I have written a web page covering common gearboxes and transfercases used in conversions. Hopefully you will find it of help. When converting to a more powerful V8 a number of things need to be addressed. The engine should be centred more within the frame to provide adequate clearance for exhaust, left side accessories and left hand steering. Installing the engine more towards the frame centre line also distributes the side to side weight more evenly. In order to fit the larger American V8 bellhousing and to centre the engine more within the frame, the bulkhead has to be modified for more clearance in the bellhousing indentation. A small block V8 will need a bulkhead indentation that is 3 inches wider to the right and an inch higher clearance where the bellhousing passes through.

Bought a used LR4 in Sept 2018. Couple months later engine had to be replaced. Which could have been a nightmare to deal with ended up being not that bad. All the process went very smoothly thanks to the extraordinary customer service Alina provided. From when I drove the car to the shop to the moment I took it back, she was extremely professional and was always prompt to respond. I highly recommend you ask for Alina for any service your Jaguar/Range Rover needs. Just had one of the easiest and most convenient car buying experiences thanks to Adam G going above and beyond to make the deal happen. We've been loyal Land Rover Drivers for over 10 years when we lived in Florida and on our fourth Rover. Recently moved to Washington and our lease was coming to an end. Called Land Rover in Portland and I wasn't impressed with them at all. I called Adam, told him exactly what I wanted and to treat me fairly. He put together a very nice lease deal on the exact car my wife wanted and the next day the new car was in our driveway.
Alas she didn't pass her MoT test and I had to sell her as scrap for a few hundred 拢拢拢's in April, 2013. I didn't even have a digital camera to take pictures for this page. What to look for when buying a second-hand Land Rover/Range Rover 4X4 motor? I've made mistakes, believe me, my bank balance would attest to that, but if you can get a Land Rover in reasonable condition they're worth a bit of investment. Look out for rust, check the log for work done on chassis and body, mainly under the body. The early Range Rovers used to be rust prone, tailgates mostly. I've seen 'Rangies' with really bad rust - but still running! A workshop will not pass a vehicle on its MOT (Ministry of Transport) Test if the stays are rotted. Iffy' outriggers can be overlooked, but they'll need work doing or the body sags and if you're out off road that would spell disaster!
