Our next destination was Rapid City, SD to visit the Chapel in the Hills, where Bethany's parents eloped 30 years ago. Turns out one of Ike's great uncles lives in Rapid City, so we stopped by to chat with them for a few hours. We stopped by the Crazy Horse monument just as the sun was setting. 20 pretty. So we just took pictures from the highway instead of paying the entrance fee. We learned it is a privately owned/funded monument. Great Uncle Al & Aunt Marian. We then zipped over to Mt. Rushmore as dusk set in. It was actually an awkward time to be there because it was too dark to see all the details of the monument, but the lighting ceremony wasn't for another hour. We had a stroke of genius and decided to cook dinner while we waited for the ceremony. We asked if there was a picnic area where we could cook and were told we'd have to leave the park. Well, that's no fun. We pulled into a corner of the parking garage and proceeded to grill our brats. Cheese it, the cops!

The original Land Rover was developed in 1948 on the island of Anglesey in Wales by Maurice Wilks on his farm in Newborough, he was the chief designer of Rover. It is thought Wilks was inspired one summer by the American World War II Jeep that which he used at his holiday home located in Wales. The first Land Rover with 'centre steer' used a Jeep chassis. The main distinctive feature was their bodies which were constructed of a lightweight rustproof proprietary alloy of aluminium and magnesium called Birmabright. This unique material was used after the war as there was steel shortages but there was ample supply aircraft aluminium. The resistance to corrosion was one of the key factors that established the Land Rover to build up a reputation for longevity in the most toughest conditions put in front of it. Land Rover has then advertised that upto 75% of all vehicles ever built are still in use toady.
In comparison, the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 feature large front grilles with smaller lower intake openings, while the Toyota C-HR has a slim upper grille and smaller lower intake. The Rogue Sport rides on a 2.3-inch shorter wheelbase and is 12.1 inches shorter overall than the standard Rogue. Along the side, the Rogue Sport features a swooping roofline and beltline that kicks up over the rear wheels above the taillights. Only the Toyota has pronounced fender bulges, though all have visible plastic fender trim to help reinforce their crossover identities.
