2019 Land Rover LR2 Review
Ever since they first appeared, way back in 1948, Land Rovers have been renowned for their ruggedness and off-road prowess. But perhaps what's most impressive about the 2014 Land Rover LR2 is just how well it behaves when mud becomes tarmac, the roads twist and turn and the driver demands sportiness, rather than its famous aptitude for traversing boulders. LR2 is Land Rover's entry-level SUV. Built with unibody construction, it seats five, and sits below the Land Rover LR4 and the upscale Range Rover products. Despite the LR2 being an entry-level machine, you still get plenty of styling and luxury. Naturally, what Land Rover deems entry would be would be classed as a premium vehicle for many manufacturers. Very popular in the UK, relatively few LR2s are sold in the U.S. The 2014 Land Rover LR2 infotainment system gets a more responsive 7-inch touch screen, now using capacitive technology that promises improved scrolling on the main navigation screen (if so equipped). A new QWERTY keyboard permits phonebook searching. SiriusXM satellite radio gains such improvements as artist memory seek, learn/game memory seek, and instant replay.
The average total annual cost for unscheduled repairs and maintenance across all model years of a vehicle. Higher average cost alone does not necessarily mean a vehicle is less reliable. For example, parts and labor for your vehicle may be expensive, especially if it is a European luxury car, but if severe issues and annual average visits to the shop are low, that's a good indicator of a reliable car. The average number of times the vehicle is brought into the shop for unscheduled repairs and maintenance in a single year. This metric is calculated by tracking millions of unique vehicles over multiple years to determine an average number of visits per year for each make and model. Controls were included to omit small routine visits to shops such as for oil changes. The severity component to reliability measures the probability that a repair will be a major issue. An issue is considered severe if a repair costs three-times the average annual repair cost for all models, an amount deemed prohibitively expensive given the unscheduled nature of the repair.
We haven鈥檛 yet driven the inline-6-powered Range Rover Sports, we鈥檒l report back once we do. Efficiency is the oil burner鈥檚 claim to fame for now鈥攗p to 28 mpg on the highway鈥攁lthough it鈥檚 relatively refined. 1,000. The turbodiesel鈥檚 fuel-efficiency title likely will be claimed by the plug-in hybrid turbo-4 Range Rover Sport, although the EPA hasn鈥檛 yet chimed in with official ratings. The plug-in hybrid version makes 398 hp and matches a busy 2.0-liter turbo-4 that makes 296 hp with an electric motor that makes 141 hp. The plug-in hybrid鈥檚 battery pack is much larger than the mild-hybrid version (13.1 kwh vs. Range Rover Sport plug-in hybrid can travel on electricity alone for more than 30 miles at speeds up to 85 mph. We鈥檝e briefly driven the plug-in hybrid powertrain and came away impressed with the low-speed acceleration and off-road potential of the electric powertrain. The plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport adds nearly 400 pounds to the overall weight of the heaviest Range Rover, which means the battery pack pushes the big 鈥榰te to nearly 3 tons overall.
