No, no, not like this! Jaguar has talked about a model under the XF, the most likely you could call a 3 Series competitor. Such a model is described by Jaguar as crucial to the brand's future. However, I never understood how that would work. The 3 Series segment in Europe is a high volume one, including sizable fleet sales. You need big volumes to be cost effective and achieving that in a very competitive environment - against established popular models - is a big ask. Jaguar does not even have the production capacity to do it anyway. An SUV is the way to go, and Jaguar seem to be hinting that is what will happen before any smaller saloon model is attempted. It will be easier to make money on lower volumes that way. Of course, Jaguar should have done it years ago as I said here. Better late than never I suppose. It would share a platform with a Land Rover model, saving cost. As long as the model was more feline in style, the Jaguar would not directly compete with LR, but sporty SUVs of other makes. Win, win I say.

Nice leather. Nicer to drive but still sluggish with a 4.6 liter V8. Lots of electrical issues unfortunately and expensive adjustable air suspension. Earlier models used Lucas, later ones used Bosch engine management, all were bad but the later models were maybe marginally more reliable. 2002-2006 models had BMW V8s and electrical systems. These tended to have more problems than the later Jaguar/Ford models. I had a new 2007 HSE and it was a terrific car for me. Very reliable and well made. Both were great reliable cars. My father has one of these as well. We both think the L405 is a pretty small improvement over the L322. They drive about the same. The controls are more digital but other than that there aren't a huge amount of improvements. Overall, I am a huge Range Rover fan. They are probably the most comfortable and easy to use cars on the market. I have driven plenty of S-Classes and I always prefer the Range Rover.

Shouldn't I be scouting charity shops and condemning support of the fashion industry? Shouldn't I be cleansing my soul with kale juice and avoiding all 'unnatural' forms of euphoria? Shouldn't I be practicing yogi backbends and helping the less fortunate in all of my spare time?
