A letter dated January 5 was released by the SEC from Don Leclair, Ford's chief financial officer, who responded to a December 15 letter of inquiry from Cecilia D. Blye, the chief of the SEC's Office of Global Security Risk. A SEC spokesman said that such correspondences are not released to the public for at least 45 days, following the completion of their review by the agency. A leaked photo posted by Instagram user shedlocktwothousand allegedly taken from the set of the new film now confirms the new Land Rover Defender will also make an appearance in the upcoming spy film. As we saw from spy shots, the new Defender retains its predecessor's distinctive boxy shape and flat roof and hood, but the front fascia has been updated with a design mimicking the current Range Rover. The old Defender's round headlights, for example, have been replaced with angled square headlights. Other standout features include a winch, alpine windows, checks on the hood, flared wheel arches, and significantly increased ground clearance. While it looks more premium and refined than the old model, the front design looks less distinctive than its iconic predecessor. Overall, the visual design appears to be an evolutionary, rather than a revolutionary, update, but Land Rover promises the new Defender will be more capable than ever. According to leaked documents, the new Land Rover Defender will be available in three flavors: the 90, 110, and 130, but the 110 will be the first model available. In the US, the only engine option will be a 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph in this model will reportedly take 7.4 seconds. Look out for the official reveal in September.

Closely related to the 2052cc diesel but with cylinders bored direct in the block (rather than the wet liners used by the diesel). Early engines had some weaknesses, prompting a redesign of many internal parts for the Series IIA in 1961. After that, carried on pretty much unchanged until 1980 when the 5 bearing crank appeared (see below). A rugged, torquey motor with few real weaknesses: tends to wear its crank bearings (especially the centre one) due to crank flex at high revs, but will still keep going even when very rattly.
