Range Rover Coupe
Jaguar Land Rover killed the Range Rover SV Coupe at the last minute, but thankfully Niels van Roij Design is filling the gap with the new Adventum Coupe. As noticed by Top Gear, the London-based firm will transform the Range Rover into a limited edition coupe which features aluminum bodywork and a sloping roofline. Niels van Roij Design didn鈥檛 say much about the exterior, but the company confirmed the cabin can be extensively customized. Among the options are highly-polished wood trims, personalized tread plates and custom leather seats with handcrafted embroidery. According to Niels van Roij, the original two-door Range Rover was an 鈥渆xemplary work of industrial design鈥?and they鈥檙e aiming to honor it with the new Adventum Coupe. The Range Rover SV Coupe was slated to cost 拢 240,000, but Niels van Roij Design will charge between 拢 275,000 - 拢 375,000 for the conversion. That price doesn鈥檛 appear to include the cost of the base vehicle either. Production will be limited to 100 units and first Range Rover coupe is already under construction. The company says the conversion will take approximately six months to complete and interested customers can get the ball rolling by making a 拢 50,000 deposit.
In theory it only replaced the older Diesel Turbo engine in the range, with the other four-cylinder engines (and the V8 petrol engine) still being available. However, the Tdi's combination of performance and economy meant that it took the vast majority of sales. Exceptions were the British Army and some commercial operators, who continued to buy vehicles with the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated diesel engine (in the army's case, this was because the Tdi was unable to be fitted with a 24 volt generator). Small numbers of V8-engined Defenders were sold to users in countries with low fuel costs or who required as much power as possible (such as in Defenders used as fire engines and ambulances). Along with the 200Tdi engine, the 127's name was changed to the "Land Rover Defender 130". The wheelbase remained the same; the new figure was simply a tidying up exercise. More importantly, 130s were no longer built from "cut-and-shut" 110s, but had dedicated chassis built from scratch.
What weAAEre discussing here is an object of pure lust, the 2010 edition of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged with options, possibly the most luxurious of full-size SUVs. Tata Motors, part of a Mumbai-based multinational conglomerate that acquired Land Rover from Ford Motor in 2008, makes no pretense that the vehicle is meant for anything other than enjoyment and prestige. This is the SUV as ceremonial elephant. Step in. The Range Rover Sport Supercharged smells rich. Under its tutelage, Ford emphasized the technical prowess of the Range Rover line. Buttons and dials were all over the instrument panel and center console. The feeling was more aircraft flight deck than luxury coach. Tata has changed that, giving the Sport Supercharged fewer buttons with greater ease of use. It matters not that underneath its considerable finery, the Sport Supercharged remains a truck with a hydro-formed, box-steel ladder-frame. So, yes, the new Range Rover Sport Supercharged remains tough.
I recently spent some time behind the wheel of a 2015 Range Rover Supercharged LWB (Long Wheelbase), and my affection is renewed. If possible, it鈥檚 even expanded. I am on record with my love of the Land Rover brand, and the Range Rover Supercharged in particular. Range Rover got a complete makeover for the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover, losing 700 lbs and gaining additional capability in the process. 118,501 with options, California Emissions and destination charge. Land Rover鈥檚 4-year/50,000-mile new vehicle warranty includes 24-hour Road Recovery Service and complimentary first scheduled maintenance. The EPA estimates that the 2015 Range Rover Supercharged LWB can achieve 14 mpg city/19 mpg highway/16 mpg combined. I view the Range Rover Supercharged as an ideal executive conveyance. Both behind the wheel and in the second row, the Range Rover delivers an excellent experience, with luxury amenities, a great ride and a commanding view of the road.
